Bro I can’t wait to make my Obuun deck when my cards arrive in the mail and BEAT FACE with it against all the people calling this commander underpowered or “a good starting out deck” This commander is actually nuts and it makes me question so many people’s ability to evaluate cards since it’s not a Korvold or a Chulane. Good video though guys (I wasn’t talking about you guys btw) I’ve just seen so much unnecessary hate on this guy, or not even hate just severely underrating it. I’ve got a simple hint to anyone wanting to see how this guy is powerful in two words- DOUBLE EVERYTHING. The way I think of this commander is Saskia, but with landfall synergies. You’re basically doubling your commanders power every one of your combats, FOR FREE. -Beserk, Unleash Fury, Aggravated Assault, Aurelia, Fury of the Horde, Branching Evolution, Conclave mentor, ramp ramp ramp, no land board wipes. double strike enablers, Moraug, Ancient Greenwarden and Ashaya from Zendikar Rising. All of these things can result in HUGE attacks and the extra combat steps animate another land. How again is this deck not powerful?

Also, another thing I think you guys overlooked is getting the right amount of protection in the deck for Obuun. I know this was a budget upgrade but I feel like 99% of the time you want to be putting the counting on Obuun himself, therefore doubling the power on your board when you go to animate a land. Stuff like Heroic intervention might’ve actually fit in this budget too

I’m glad you guys at least see it. It just makes me way more excited than I already was to build this guy. I think the landfall on the commander is a bit deceiving. You definitely want to play into HIS landfall ability with all the rAmPz, scapeshift, ramunap excavator etc. but I don’t think this deck wants a crazy amount of other landfall cards. You don’t want some, for example I think Felidar retreat from the new set is also a shoe in. But I think this deck wants more of its mass being combat shenanigans. Any time a commander “doubles” anything it’s so easy to pop off with other “doublers” when you can quadruple something with one card. .

I wasn't that interested in Obuun until I watched this video. I rrrreally like the sub theme of animating lands because its different from the typical landfall decks out there. I think you could really surprise some people when they think you're just focusing on pumping one land at a time and instead mass animating the all you lands and swing out! And to spice it up even more by throwing an overrun effect down on the table. I'm really looking forward to trying Obuun out. As usual, you guys rock!

Great upgrades! It's really easy to see a landfall deck and put in a bunch of landfall abilities that honestly don't fit the deck's plan. Pitfall avoided 👍!

I wasn't too interested in building "just another Landfall deck" Until I saw how this vid is more about animating and beating down with lands, boosting Obuun and using that as the strategy and I was more interested. Last night I ended up with a 33/33 Obuun with his 33/33 land buddy and finished off two players at once. 1: Blackblade is nuts in this deck 2: No one remembers that Mina and Denn give Trample, even after I used that to kill someone the turn prior. XD Tempted to run a Darksteel Citadel in here though, just to have an Indestructible target to animate, in case I don't get Terra Eternal out right away.

For all those obuun players who don't know, you can activate an inkmoth nexus and use obuun's ability to give is x/x and trample! For example a 13/13 obuun makes a 13/13 flying trample haste infect

Love the lands and ramp but I wouldn't take out The Mending of Dominaria unless it was for a Splendid Reclaimation because getting your evolving wilds type of lands back to crack for more land fall triggers is crazy value. Good video guys keep up the good work.

It is pretty expensive and has to sit for 3 turns so I understand not being a huge fan of it but it has a really strong pay off imo. I also didn't see a crop rotation to find those man lands/pump lands. Why's that?

I agree with this especially if you upgrade the lands to add fetch lands and fabled passage on top of terramorphic expanse and evolving wilds. Could be a pretty huge payoff.

I’ve always wanted to use Awaken the Vitu Ghazi on Blinkmoth Nexus. You still have to use the activation cost to give it Infect (and it will go back to being a non-creature land at the end of the turn), but it will one-shot your opponent.

With red in the color identity you could play fling as well. Attack, do damage, then fling the land creature at the player. I have not seen someone use fling or even force fights.

5:45 I have an Ishai/Reyhan Aristocounters deck which is pretty close to optimal. I have both Gyre Sage and Incubation Druid in the deck. Often, Incubation Druid is just straight up better. Love that card.

small detail about abundance is that you can't get milled aslong as it is on the battlefield, it always finds a way in my green decks for this reason and the awesome synergy with sylvan library

Hi guys! I have received this deck for my birthday and played with my friend yesterday. He has bought Sneak attack for himself, and I lost to him 6 times in a row, not being able to do anything.. My cards seemed so inconsistent with each other, really expensive with CMC, and when I finally got some lands and creatures, I had 19 lives remaining.. I got so sad. Would You rather suggest me to invest in upgrading this deck, or should I look for something more interesting? Land animating is cool, but once I have played with Token-Deck and it was so awesome. That's so cool that you got this as a present! I think you could totally make some solid upgrades to the deck, especially if you have even a small collection. If you lower the curve a little and get rid of the super high cost stuff and pick a theme (+1/+1 counters or lands) and roll with it, you will get more consistent results. This deck kind of wants to do two things at once, so cutting some of the cards of the theme you don't need is a good idea! Hope this helps!

Kenrith's transformation is one of my favorite card in green beside beastwithin. Upside can take care of a commander for 7 turn is no boardwipe, its draw a card and work with indestructable creature like nasty colorless eldrazi. downside: sorcery speed and dont affect enchantement.

Also if your lands aren’t indestructible you can use them with impunity knowing they’ll come back. I put some fling effects in because sometimes you need to kill someone right now.

Note that Keeper of Fables actually does trigger more times per combat - not per creature hitting, but per player hit. It's even in the Gatherer rulings for it. Great video btw, I usually don't share your views, but I liked this one very much. Already went the landfall route with my precon, though, bu there's always the possibility of trying it later ;)

Geode Rager still getting no love it seems. I don't know, being able to have 2 of your 3 opponents tear each other apart during their turns right around the time you are beginning to stabilize, seems great to me. Gets around politicking and makes your opponents waste their resources and compromise their board states and all at the cost of simply putting a land into play.....

Okay first off you don't need to do the whole Nessa lands wrath because you'd be better off putting alash norn in it giving your lands + 2 + 2 and your opponent's creatures -2 negative 2 because that will defend against another red deck trying to burn your Lance enchantment to make all as indestructible good call but if you're going to make lands to swing for the face I would suggest something that gives you all creatures you control have trample namely a mammoth from M20 or M21 also for Giggles put Thor mammoth in there to keep things off the field and you might want to spruce up your land base a little bit by getting the red white shock land and the green white shock land and get the the tri-colored land from icoa and trelawny from Ravnica throwing in true conviction you get double strike and LifeLink another Giggles card because why not Black Blade reforged and for Giggles through Gideon the Black Blade in there to spice things up and why not throw an ancient ziggurat in there to get creatures out there on the field and a Lotus cobra prayer when you have no doubt that you don't need also maybe Druids Repository for every time you attack you get extra Mana if it was legal I would say Throw primeval Titan in there Vine Lasher Katsu scoop mob scoop swarm that way your ranks are not spread so thin come on guys I think you can do better than that
