Cover Band Sound Check and PA Rig Rundown. We are a coverband who mostly plays Holiday Parks in the U.K. in this video I look at our n stage set up, and the different types of venue we play at, and how these can be different as far as whether you use an in house system or the bands own PA

Love the run down. I'm surprised you haven't all gone to IEM's to clean up the extra stage noise from the wedges. It's a small venue issue mostly but would also be less to load in. I'm a drummer and love my IEM's for ease of use, for sound blocking of guitarists who won't give up their amps on small stages, and to help hear the right mix. I use them for either my Vdrums or my Acoustic sets and love getting my own mix just right with no competition from neighboring wedges on small stages. Keep on rockin!

@scottbillings3677 Thanks so much for watching.😀 I do have an IEM system and everyone I know tells me it’s way better once used to them so I’m going to try them again in the new year and see how I do. Love the V drums 😎

Nice. Pretty much the same setup as us. Love the xr18. Used it for about 7 years now. External router too. We got caught out with the internal one at the beginning and could not connect! 🙈 I just use one single Kronos 73 worn lots of splits and layers. Two mackie tops and one 18" sub. All running in ears.

Question for ya. Any tips you would recommend from someone going from classical training (Considered later intermediate / early advanced) to playing more covers. Is it a matter of just doing it? Or is there something more you would recommend? I play an accoustic Grand, but have a Nord Grand. Should I sell the Nord Grand and get a Stage (3/4) (I like Nords :) ) Thanks for the videos.

@Aerospace_Education I think it is a matter of just doing it (my next video is going to be top tips for looking for the right band so hopefully that will be helpful) As far as the Nord (which are awesome of course), I think it depends very much the genre of music you will be playing, the type of gigs and also even how you get to the gigs and the load in can sometimes be an influence . Weight is a factor for me as I have limited time but may not be a factor for others. I have found in the past it is when I join a new project and begin to work out the set that the Rig I need will become clear. Hope that is in some way helpful and thanks so much for watching

Love the vid. I recommend putting the band's x air in a rack with a power strip with a router so you can have it ready to go.

If it works it works. When my band is not playing i run sound for other bands. If enough people see your post they will tell you things like don’t use the alto speakers and It’s never a good idea to run sound from stage but a lot of us have to. I run sound from the stage. in my band I have a p16 With only the inputs of left right. I use high quality in-ear buds (1200.00) and this way I can hear volume changes or if somebody does a little break out solo and make changes. Having the guitar players go out front to try to adjust volume is probably not the most desirable and things will change as the night goes on which may be problematic doing it that way. Like I said I run sound for bands when we’re not playing but for example I’ve gone through five different sound guys even with the last one lasting 10 years, but they never stay lol. But it seems like what you’re doing is working and the bottom line is if it does more power to any band that does it. The biggest thing is to enjoy playing music and make people happy. Enjoyed your video , Keep doing what you’re doing

@rusinjeff5959 thanks so much for watching and your kind words. 😀 Absolutely agree, immeasurably better to have a sound engineer but sometimes needs (and budget) must.

@pauljosse That is the universal struggle. Thanks so much for watching. In the past I’ve had years of not gigging looking for the right core musicians. I am going to be doing a video interviewing working musicians as well as offering some of my own tips on what to look for when looking for the right band, so do subscribe and hit the notification bell. Hopefully collective experience may be helpful.
