These videos are cool. I've recently been buying the old mags and disks. They are a great time capsule!

I actually visited HMV that just opened up again at their original location on Oxford Street this Christmas. It only has two floors and a basement though, and most of it was about "pop culture", very little movies and music. I remember going there in the 90s and it had 5 or 6 floors of fun, one of them dedicated to video and computer games.

Yeah, it feels like its mostly about telling merch these days rather then media. It used to be amazing seeing walls of games.

I have to pick CU Amiga this month. I'm the sort of person who normally goes for strategy / God games, but I lost hours of my life to that demo. There's something sooooo relaxing about watching those little guys go about their work.

Yep! Its a great game and demo and me and my mate lost so much time to it.

Turrican 2 was one of the reasons I bought an Amiga back in the 90s, but that Turrican 3 demo did nothing for me. The Settlers demo on the other hand was a great intro to that game, and the full version had me completely hooked. Its a really good example of how a good demo disk can open doors to games that otherwise may not have caught my attention as a kid!

I was very similar with that demo disk back in the day. I think I even forgot that Turrican 3 was on it, I'd just play settlers all the time. up to the point I got a full copy 😁

I still have that AMIGA POWER cover disk, with SPACE INVASION 😺👍🕹️. I even made a gameplay video of it 😺👍🕹️. SPECTRACOLOR reminds me of Electronic Arts' DELUXE PAINT and looks kinda awesome 😺👍. By the way, merry retrospective christmas 🎁🎄🎅 from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮. Also, happy new retrospective year 2024! COMMODORE 64 FOREVER 😺👍🕹️! AMIGA FOREVER 😺👍🕹️!

That's unfair having the Settlers demo in the mix, the other games don't have a chance! :) A great video to end 2023 GouldFish!

I know, I know. Its why it had to be the last game in the episode or why bother doing all the others 😂

Amiga Power: I vaguely recall Nipper vs. the Cats & vaguely remember dismissing it as just an advert but it sounds like I should have given it a chance? Wiz & Liz is quite a nice looking game? There’s a hint of Worms to the environments. Larger demos are always welcome Cyber Punks looks a bit zoomed in for my liking but the point of demoes is to find out if you’d play the game. Not going to win points for another Space Invaders clone. Amiga Action: A 5 level demo of Bob’s Bad Day scores points with me. I know the levels aren’t big but it’s a good taste of the game. On the other hand I hate timers so it loses points for that. Also Bob’s ugly. Campaign 2 catches my interest when you go from a few pixels on the map to 3D combat. That would have caught my attention. Charley Chimp 2 is a game that exists. That’s everything I’d have taken away from the demo. Jack the Ripper is indeed hard on the eyes & also pretty morbid. Also, & I can’t say this enough, I hate timers! Cricket… let’s move on. 😄 CU Amiga: SpectraColor would actually have been something useful to me, I would have appreciated that, although I don’t think I can match your fine art there? Aegis Animator was pretty “powerful” (you know what I mean?) & would have been a great freebee. Turrican 3 is the least of the series but it still looks great & it’s competently made. I would probably have enjoyed the demo but not been sold on the game? The Settlers is technically fantastic & very much beloved but to be honest, & I know this is pretty much sacrilege, it’s not one I ever really got in to. So it’s an impressive demo but just not one for me. I actually do agree with your order & for similar reasons but what put CU Amiga on top for me was the productivity applications. 1 thing that caught me out here is Amiga Power having the “first ever review” of Cannon Fodder emblazoned on the cover. For some reason I always think of Fodder being earlier than that & I don’t know why? These videos are fun, thanks. Also thanks for a fun year of videos again, they're always appreciated.

Nipper Vs the Catz was very much an advert but done in an enjoyable way. helps it had a team that could make good games behind it. Cyber Punks would be a bit better zoomed out, it was way too easy to loose your place. and yeah, a basic Space Invaders clone is fine but its disk filler really. Bob is very ugly, and the timer is very annoying. The timer in Jack is mostly to try and keep you on the right track but it was also a bit of a pain. but I can see how you have a day to solve the murder might be in keeping. The art programs were nice, I could see the power of animator. Settlers is one of those games that you either love or find boring. I've tied lots of games that I thought I should love and bounced off for what ever reason, its fine. Thanks for watching, happy that you are enjoying them.
