Leonardo, thank you for sharing this video. I agree with you. Pickerman, it sounds very good. Your voice is also very special for p.e. Irish songs, at least I hear that in it. You guitarplay is wonderful. Thanks! Roeleke

Thank you! Very nice of you and thanks for taking the time. I try to make each of John's recording as close as possible to his style, mostly as a challenge to me, but also to show the true beauty of his music. Though sometimes I have to change things up a bit to suit my voice. ~George~

@GiffordSL. Thank yo so much. I love playing this song. Since posting this video, I have modified the way I play it to be more accurate to the way John Denver actually played it. Not to try and copy him, but to show others how John played it in case they want to learn it that way. Thanks again! ~George~

Sounds Absolutely Great! You've got the picking down perfectly! I'd be very interested to see that instructional video, I'd love to be able to play this one. I'm also a beginner, but I was able to learn This Old Guitar over a couple months, and I'd like to give this one a shot.

Thanks. One time I was playing this at the joint where I play, and a lady gasped when I got to the lyric, "young Daddy in his pain put a bullet through his brain". lol

Thank you so much! That means a lot to me as there are so many talented musicians on KZbin! I've had requests for a tutorial for this song. I will be working on one, but it may be kind of complicated and will take some time to plan out. Thanks again! ~George~

Nah, I wasn't scared, although this was one of my early KZbin videos, so I was kind of new to it. I now play Darcy Farrow more accurately to John's version, and I will be re-recording this song, and will sing it "like I mean it". I'm also planning an instructional in the future as well.. ~George~

Thanks so much! Yeah Fretkillr does an awesome job on this one. I plan on re-recording this song in the future as I have done some tweeking of the song to make it much closer to the version that John does in his later recordings. I also have a couple requests to do an instructional video on this one too. I will do that as soon as I finish an instructional on "I Guess He'd Rather Be in Colorado", and also have promises "This Old Guitar". I'll do this one right after those two. ~George~

Thanks Pete. I have planned on doing a instrutional for this one but time to write it down and record the video has not been easy to find. I do have another tab for Darcy which I can send you, which I'm having trouble locating at home. It wasn't with my other tabs that I have. When I find it I will send it to you. ~George~

Thank you so much! All though this recording isn't totally accurate to the way John played it, it is pretty close. Thanks for the interest. ~George~

Thanks Bob. It took hours of practice. I've been asked a couple times on how to play Darcy Farrow. I am planning on putting together an instructional video on Darcy Farrow. Similar to the one I did for Rhymes and Reasons. I agree, this song would sound great on a Martin. Which model do you have? ~George~
@tommy92tulipano11 жыл бұрын
Hi George, I can easily believe it was John's favourite song to sing. It is a real poem! I don't know if you ever read the novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther" by Johann Goethe, but this song speaks about a young man who commits suicide for love, like the novel. Darcy Farrow reminds me of the novel and viceversa.

That is a wonderful compliment! If I could be half the the guitarist that John was, I'd be the happiest guitar player on earth! Lol! I've had a request or two to do a tutorial for this song. I just got done posting a tutorial for the song, "For Baby" by JD. Now I'm looking to do another. This one might be it. Since I recorded this one, I've changed this song slightly to make it even more accurate to the way John played it. We'll see how it goes! Thanks again, ~George~

@simonspics1. Thanks! It is a very sad song. I've played it out at certain venues. Every so often I get a gasp, or look when I come to the part where he "puts a bullet through his brain". Lol! ~George~

@pickerman4 I can only imagine! I presume that really did happen that way? We had something similar happen here in Stuarts Draft,Va. nearly 30 years ago when local teenage son lost his father and couldnt handle it,and within a week took his own life! In the big picture its best not ask why these things happen,yet you still wonder?
