But if CSU won the Mountain West they would have won out, and be 10-3 with a win over a top 15 ranked Boise State, in which case CSU would also be ranked. And then beating a ranked team 52-0, that would ABSOLUTELY factor into the strength of schedule for Texas.

If Texas plays LSU instead of MS State, then they faced teams who won 60% AND replace Texas in Georgia's schedule with A&M and they only face teams winning 58%.

If Colorado State wins the MWC as a 10-3 or 9-4 team they may be ranked between 20-25 but possibly not. But if Boise drops a game before MWC championship game then all bets are off and most likely the winner of the AAC is in. No one is talking about the scenario where if Army goes undefeated and wins the AAC championship and Boise State wins the MWC with 1-loss overall and Big12 champ has 2-3 losses before the Army vs Navy game, does the committee and competition board go ahead and put both G6 teams in and leave out the Big12 team or have both G6 teams in and the Big12 champions in but leave out a 2-loss SEC or BiG10 fourth team or even 2-loss Notre Dame with second loss coming from Army, only to see Army lose to Navy. Would the committee and college football community risk that controversy? I hope so as would be ultra delicious.

The committee can't make up its mind what matters. They move up Bama 3 spots for beating Mercer but only bump up UGA 2 spots for beating 7th ranked Tennessee by 2 touchdowns. The win over UGA gets more impressive for Bama, but UGA's win over the team that also beat Bama matters less? I can't find any logic. Indiana should be ranked ahead of Penn State, they both have no ranked wins but Penn State has a loss. If Indiana loses to Ohio State close, does the committee bury them? Miami has no ranked wins, lost to unranked GA Tech, and is ranked 8th? If UGA beats GA Tech next week do you bump them up? They probably won't.

BSU has had stronger strength of schedule than Colorado…until the last weekend. Now it switched but only by 5 (because WSU lost to triple option team with a new very good coach Bronco Mendanhall). Triple option teams are scary even for the best teams, it’s no cake walk. Point is stop hating on Ashton Jeanty…. And the Boise state team. Ashton is dragging his team to wins. Hunter is NOT

SOS by itself doesn’t tell much without other metrics. Indiana’s SOR is sixth and they are top five or sixth in game control. If Indiana switches Western Illinois who they beat by 70 with a decent MAC or Sunbelt conference team they beat by 21 their SOS is much better. They would probably fall closer to 70 and after the Ohio State game be nearer to 30. This would put them around several other CFP teams. No one could have know the Defending NC and the runner-up would be down. So to answer your question, the metrics say they are top five. Ohio States metics are a little better and should be higher than them. Penn State and Texas are similar but due to brand bias they get the nod. ESPN only points at SOS because it is the only metric that fits their narrative. It doesn’t matter that SOS alone isn’t a great predictor. It doesn’t matter the committee has said in every interview that it is more than just who you played, but how you played.

Just give us a home game, dammit. I'm a season ticket holder and the only time I've made it to a post season game is the 2019 Sugar Bowl because tickets were dirt cheap (we were still salty about being left out of the playoffs then.) This game would be doable for almost all of the Georgia fans, and our stadium can handle it. GIVE US NUMBER EIGHT!

No, no one should be GIVEN anything.... EARN IT. If the B1G has the best 12 teams then they should get all 12 spots... same with the SEC or Group of 5. The ACC/B12 are NO WHERE near as good as the SEC/B1G, Colorado got killed by 5-5 Nebraska.... BYU is NOT a top 4 team, BOISE ST is NOT a top 5-8 team.... honestly probably neither deserves a spot in the top 12, but ok conference champs should get something, but a bye or home field..... no way.

If they are the 12 best then yes. You say it's subjective. But that's why we have out of conference games. PSU beat WVU and Nebraska beat Colorado. Now PSU is better than WVU but Nebraska hasn't made a bowl yet in the big ten. Colorado is like the 2nd best team in the big 12.... conferences matter and the 5th best team in the SEC would crush Boise St. That's why rankings matter and there shouldn't be a limit to 3 teams and a force to put in 2 acc/b12 teams. The second best team in those leagues aren't championship caliber.

What team is going to make a championship game and get blown out by 4 scores? The SEC/B1G championship loser if the underdog shouldn't move 1 spot. If OSU is 2 before the championship game, they lose they stay 2. If Georgia is at 6 and plays Texas and loses, they stay at 6! Even above a 10-2 bama that beat them and Georgia has a 10-3 record now. You are playing a GREAT team in the championship game and even if it's 222-0, you stay right where you are.

Georgia looks awful for a month?! Yeah because they spent OVER A MONTH ON THE ROAD! And in that month ALL SEC teams and 3-1 in that month. Strength of schedule should be considered here. Admittedly Georgia has struggled at times but still found it's way to be the only team here with two top 10 wins in the gauntlet of a schedule they had this season. There are some really soft schedules in that top 6.
