Really nice video, sir. I loved the creativity and beauty of the finished results--particularly the lack of a frame where the signage floats, embedded in the wall. Kudos to Total Boat for helping produce videos like these.

Hi Paul, you're one of the best video editing woodworking guys on the internet, and I can't believe you're under 1M subs! I have been inspired by your videos during I think 3 move of shops on your part, and it's still very interesting to follow you. I'm currently editing a pallet wood wall video for my own channel and then this comes up 😍😍👍👍. You have much responsibility for me starting my maker career with pallets! Much respect and a humble thank you from Denmark.

Oh sure, I could make interchangeable signs for both Total Boat and Narwhal Labs too if I had a CNC... and was a renowned pallet wood maker, and had an ongoing relationship with Total Boat, and had moved nearby due to my wife’s career, and had previously lived downstairs from Graz, and had a sick love of repetitive work, and, and...

Man....we might be relocating, but I so want to do this wall in our next home. Current home office has a single wall with really thin tongue and groove cedar. Just cut down 8 foot stuff to 3 feet. My wife started it as a surprise while I was out of town. She stained them all different and random colors. I just painted back behind the knots and installed using a 18 gauge nails into the studs. Very cheap and got a good look from it. I really like what the pallet wood ads though with all the holes.

I really love your work. Second hand pallets are free here in the UK. I've made plenty of old style picket fences before I retired. Also used to use the 4x4's as firewood. All free of course. The optimum size for firewood happens to be 4x4x4!

@JackmanWorks

Not necessary, but it definitely opens you up to many more projects. At least that's the case for the planer, the jointer is more of a luxury tool that isn't necessary, but is super nice to have.

Would nails be adequate for securing boards to a sheetrock backer if one doesn't have an (n)OSB wall available?
@Rufio6814
@Rufio6814 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely not, put furring strips on top of the sheetrock where the studs are or go thru the sheetrock to where the studs are
@JackmanWorks
@JackmanWorks 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it would be adequate, but only if you hit the studs. This wall was actually a sheetrock wall before we started, but we covered it in OSB so that we could nail anywhere we wanted, that way we didn't have to have the boards cut to length to hit the studs.

I keep hearing horror stories of shortages of palettes. They are hard to find and companies that require them for shipping have to delay shipping or pay much more to get them. It's like this crisis. I always assumed those wood palettes were like rats in NYC... you don't see them everywhere but you know there are millions of them (good lord don't watch the new Suicide Squad if you have issues with rats). You do CRAPLOADS of palette wood projects have you encountered this shortage yet?
