Hi Ziggy!😃🙌Yes, it is sunny most of the time here. Last night got down to -2℃, so I see some redened leaves on some dendrobiums. Yes, solstice, but from now the real Winter cold sets in.

The other day I watered one of my Catleya's and 3 or 4 of the ends of the surface roots shriveled right up 😮. It has a new cane but not that new.

Oh really?🙄That's unusual. I do have 2 new root tips going dormant on my mounted Cattleya. I guess depending on what the Cattleya is hybridized with they have a dormancy

@@newmanmansell760 Its called "Love Avenue Serenade". It was ok because it prompted me to do some research on it. It is a cross of Rlc. Waikiki Gold x Ctt. Rajah's Ruby. Root development on new growth starts after flowering and spike is cut. So even though there is new growth I am thinking root development is in dormancy and it wants very little to do with water now. So I'm keeping it moist but that's it. I'll repot it after it flowers and I cut the spike. It will be needing repot by then.
