Quick question around the 21:50 ish mark: How does the Stomp on the hydra work? I kinda get it, but at the same time I feel like I’m missing something.

Because the Hydra prevents the damage AND removes the counters. So, with normal damage it actually does not get damaged, it only loses counters until it has none and becomes a 0/0 and died. The bonecrusher says the "damage" cannot be prevented, so, when it hits the hydra it loses the counters, but still gets damaged anyways.

@@dudeofvalor9294 Polukranos is actually a 0/0 with 4 counters on it. Bonecrushers line of "damage can't be prevented" or whatever it says trumps the line on Polukranos that says to prevent the damage and remove counters instead. Polukranos is basically just being held together by counters and when hit with the Stomp it takes away that ability and puts the zombie hydra into -2 toughness and so it dies.

Tried building this deck idea about a month ago but didn't have enough wildcards for 4 Rowans. Did amazingly well with just 2 but it wasn't strong enough. Seeing it perfected here definitely makes me want to craft this pile for sure. I definitely didn't think about having soul sear in this deck either. Thanks for the great ideas as always. Copied epiphany is an instant scoop.

In regards to Will’s -7, exiling your treasure tokens is pretty epic. It’s a little different deck but I built one around the twins with the prismari dragon and Magda. Not too sure it’s good, maybe it can get there, but at the moment I don’t have the wildcards to craft a full set of the twins or alrunds epiphany

I play a tempo deck with Will/Rowan and the dragons right now. I run Magma Opus instead of Alrund's Epiphany. I prefer Opus with Goldspan because it's another way to enable a Turn 4 Goldspan Dragon on the play (a lot of decks tap out Turn 3). Also, the "tap" function can target Goldspan (allowing me to keep up a counterspell up despite blowing my treasures on Magma Opus), plus it's an instant and can often negate the opponent's turn entirely to allow me to win the following turn (tap down/kill creatures and end the game with the Dragon/Elemental). The normal tempo deck lacks a T3 play if you can afford to make a treasure on T2 (usually against control), as it relies more on landing a Prismari Command to get the T4 dragon. If I'm up against an empty board on T3, I can run out Rowan and they're forced to deal with it. If I have a treasure up, I can even keep a counterspell up to protect Rowan (countering something like a Binding the Old Gods with a one-mana Jwari Disruption gives a ridiculous amount of tempo) or save my counterspell to land a T4 Goldspan and be happy that I drew out their removal. Best thing, if you draw Will/Rowan later, it's not a dead draw - it gives you mana draw and can create tempo via the cost reduction, allowing you to keep up with control decks that ramp better than you, and you can afford to run 24 lands.

Sciences x2, Teachings of the Archaics x2, Introduction to Prophecy x1, Introduction to Annihilation x1, Mascot Exhibition x1. This is in Best-of-1. I've played around a lot with the exact numbers based on my experience with the meta. Problem is, there are a lot of dead or subpar draws based on your matchup. You can shunt away a couple with Prismari Command/Expressive Iteration You need to balance that against the need to reliably outpace mono-red and mono-white via card advantage/removal, and reliably beat Emergent Ultimatum. I also like to win occasionally against Rogues (easily my worst MU). I'm firm that 4x Goldspan Dragon, 3x Will/Rowan, 3x Prismari Command, 3x Expressive Iteration, 2x Mystical Dispute are the way to go. Could go +/- on Igneous Inspiration/Divide by Zero (Igneous is solid vs. aggro, Divide wrecks control). Sideboard is also firm.

You don't have Armageddon yourself with Will's ultimate do you? It says "five permanents" not "five permanents you control". So you could target your opponents lands then Draconic Intervention something like Magma Opus to wipe them. Or am I missing something?

@@Amphok So what the first bonecrusher giant did, was to 1. remove 2 counters from polukranos so it became a 4/4 and then 2. did 2 damage to it so it is now a 4/2. But at the end step, damage heals back (normal rules), so it became a 4/4 again. If you pause and look really closely it does say 4/2 on the card very briefly. Then the same thing happened next turn: it first became a 2/2 then a 2/0 at which point it just died.
