Everybody is talking about the intricate guitar playing and amazing drums (which to their credit are AMAZING, not arguing that) , but that BASS TONE and those complimentary lines to spice up the chords and have a counter melody/harmony are PHENOMENAL. This is an essential trio where all three players matter and compliment each other so well it’s absurd. This is an official hood classic 😳

It hits when you realize all the moments in your life have led you to this point. This exact point of listening to this exact song. The song that doesn’t say a word yet says more anyone could to describe the experience you get from it because there isn’t a single world or phrase. It’s the accumulation of your life and the person next to you and the person the other room and the person halfway across the world. All the moments good and bad, highs and lows brought and lay down in front of your eyes so you understand the essence of life.

For the ones that came back to this still in 2020 or later years. (in my opinion) this song literally depicts the love that Yvette and Sander (San holo) had. The moment Sander came into the shot the green screen images became blooming flowers meaning the blossoming of their relationship (yes they had a relationship) Sadly people come and go so this isn't the case anymore. San holo also made a song about love later on called "Love wip" (wip is edm language for work in progress) in which you can hear a clip of Yvette talking about love. On San holo's album 1 commentary album you can hear him talk about the meaning of that song and with the information I just gave you, this clip of him talking about it makes it a lot more understandable. Have a nice day and let's spread some love during these hard Covid-19 infected times.

When this album drops, it might actually replace "homey" from Chon which has permanently resided in my car stereo since last summer. lol

J Pettey when you start listening to the style and learning the songs it becomes more natural than you’d imagine. It’s still insanely challenging. Can’t imagine how long it takes to compose these and get them tracked and mixed right

It really depends on your approach to music in general, honestly. Some people like to hear it out loud, and piece it together. Some still like to figure out a few different ideas on paper and work out the connections later. If you really want to make good math rock (or any sort of progressive music) I think learning more about music theory is the first step. Having examples to work off of is another good step. I’d look at Schism or Lateralus by Tool if you want to hear some more solid examples of using advanced rhythm to communicate ideas. Another elementary example is “My Curse”, by Killswitch Engage. It has a pretty easy to digest time signature switch that can help you take the first steps to writing your own music with time signature changes.

It's really the drums that make this what it is. The bass and guitar is amazing. But the changes in drum rhythm and his syncopation is like 💋👌.. he also thows in some polyrhythms the cymbol changes are what really change the tone of the entire song, they are notnot just background beat and tempo filler,

I always gotta SMDH when people complain about "music sucks today" because all they do is listen to the radio and expect stuff to come _find them._ There's more musical variety today than ever before in human history, and you can find pretty much ALL OF IT right here on the internet, including whatever "good old days" stuff you're lamenting. Instead of complaining you should be thanking your lucky stars! So many amazing groups like Covet exist almost entirely _because_ they can reach a fan base via the internet. What a time to be alive...
