The best time to prepare for a self-isolation "quarantine" is to get supplies and whatever you will need for 2-3 weeks of staying at home. best to be prepared and nothing happens, as if something happens when you are not prepared you are can't go back.

90 days should be the goal. How long has this been going on in Wuhan? They "respect" (fear) their gov and stay put. In the USA, if you tried to lockdown NYC, think how that'd go. You'd have 4 weeks of defiant people and unprepared people who live off Wendy's, they need to run around and get sick. Then you need to wait 30 more days for those people to die. Then you need another 30 to make sure the supply chain gets going again and you dont get price gouged or depend on MRE lines from the guard.

I'd keep an eye on the prison in Thailand, should that transferred prisoner test positive. The infected cruise ship is an opportunity to get some very real empirical data. Sad when the Japanese government (?) said there weren't enough test kits. The draping tunnel seems as though they had a death onboard... removal. Prayers for the people there. I hope they manage to get through this & not bring home any hitchhikers.

Furthermore, my family is in a small town outside of Jilin. About as far away from Wuhan as you can get. The town has blockaded the roads and police are only allowing food shipments in. If anyone leaves the town you cannot get back in.

Oh they probably short on doctors. Small towns usually can't treat severe illnesses. They probably don't have ICUs. In small town in my region in previous year one woman died from pneumonia. They didn't have oxygen and they couldn't ship her to city in time. It's not China, but still developing country.

In some ways you may be safer that way, keeping infected people out. BUT if anyone there needs medicine, or normal medical treatment for everyday stuff, they may not be able to get treatment, unless they leave and then can never come back. Horrible situation

She will be limited to working in auxiliary offices until the 16th, 2 weeks after she arrived from China. Here in Vancouver, Canada, most retailers ran out of hand sanitizers around Chinese new year (Jan 25) , not able to restock, and currently some emergency food suppliers no longer have large barrels of freeze-dried long term storage food in stock. People are not panicking but certainly some are already stocking up.

I am from the Netherlands and observed the following while watching this: in the middle of the video it stopped playing with the message that the user had removed the video. Then I went to the channel and I saw it again. It concerns me that you didn't address the overwhelmed crematoriums in Wuhan and how many of these deaths aren't being counted towards the total death count. If officials are sending dead bodies to the same crematorium, that has been say inspected for safety, it could also appear like a lot of bodies and lead to an impression of overwhelmed facilities. So we don’t know if this is the case with those photos and videos. Especially since these reporters would not be privy to these arrangements.

Serpentza a KZbinr who only recently decided to leave China with his Chinese wife who's a doctor has stated that either as a state policy or as individuals Chinese ex-pats are buying up masks and sending them to china either to profit or for friends family or as an assignment from the government because they are technically PLA

Also where my wife works they have to wear masks in the "clean room" - they do microchip silicon wafers and she said that the company has made it clear that the masks are worth their weight in gold and not to be wasteful with them. They have also a low supply of masks and are watching people like a hawk to make sure they are not hording or taking the masks home.

Alex the issue with the views/likes has been an issue since day one. Old-school KZbin had the problem that the views would stop at 301 for the first hour because every view after that had to be checked if it wasn't botted. The videos disappearing is just censorship, don't worry ;)

Dr Campbell, your videos are really informative, thank you for making them. I realise you are very busy and as a GP, probably about to get a lot busier, but it if you have time it would be useful for each video to have the key points made in the video in the description below the video, with a time stamp. Eg New diagnostic criteria 10:23 Patient virus production graph 20:45 People using the videos to learn could then quickly find the information they are looking for in all of your videos. This is probably asking too much, but as this topic is becoming so important I thought I would ask anyway. Again thank you for your excellent videos.

In around 3 weeks from now there will be a world lighting fair in Frankfurt, the biggest in the world happens every two years, and the whole industry and people from all over the world gathers there. Do you find responsible that the authorities and organizers still enforce how safe and under control the event is? Has anyone thought about the dangers of cross contamination of one’s shoes and the contact they make with the environment they pass through? As in, an infected person dropping moisture from breathing, sneezing, and coughing, into the air, which then settles on the floor. Next, a person walks across these infected areas(think carpet in the hallways of cruise ships), picking up the virus in the books and crannies of the tread on their shoes. They get home, remove their shoes, touch their face, touch common areas, and end up infecting themselves and others? Just my thoughts on the matter.
