What will happen when 2 to 3 million at a time have this and 20% of them need ICU care? Far more than 3% will perish. According to a military source/leak - the reason they did the cruise ship stunt early on was to get everybody to cancel their cruises so they can be used as floating hospitals and effectively "arks" for the ruling classes, super rich and their families so they can avoid all the panic and chaos and they will be guarded by gun boats. You might be told they are being converted to hospitals but trust me, you and your family wont ever get on those ships - they're for the elite to quaff champers while the survivors tear each other apart over the last tin of beans.

Now with weeks of whispers from China about people reinfected dying of heart attacks and now we have a woman who was recovered and discharged 2/1 coming back w chest pain and being positive again experts are getting concerned its biphasic like anthrax and I dunno what's worse that we dont build antibodies and can get reinfected right away causing heart attacks or if its biphasic like anthrax and goes dormant then reemerges after heart tissue has been damaged. Hard to have evidence when less than 500 people in the US have been tested due to both lack of testing capability and very restrictive circumstances when test is allowed. If they had said a month ago, that you shouldn't panic, but everyone should start stocking away a little extra dry food, medicines, toilet paper and so on so you can stay at home for at least 2 weeks and not leave the house if needed, then you wouldn't have gotten this kind of run on the store. The "golden period for containment" is clear in China and in Iran, but there are other procrastinations in EVERY country while professionals dither as they balance competing priorities, politicians waffle and the media either blurt panic or continue with distractions like Harry and Meghan. We need a national risk management protocol for emerging disasters be they floods or epidemics so that all key players are accountable for their responsibilities and everyone who is interested can understand who is responsible for the next moves. There is too much ill-directed blame during and after an event, and not enough opportunity to "blame" in the early stages.

The U.S. needs to stop flights to affected areas and also step up testing. They are simply not doing enough testing unless there is a direct contact with China. As the virus has broken out this has got to change. I know they don't want a panic but they need to get serious with this.

We are not a communists country with the power over its citizens like the Chinese but most people would follow quarantine and area shutdowns if it was for their safety. There are assholes everywhere so there would be some not following guidelines. Right now the numbers are low enough that people can self isolate successfully. If we don't "self isolate" our country from affected areas and then don't quarantine and test those people we are looking for trouble. Right now we should be testing anyone who has been to Asia, Italy, the whole Middle East thanks to Iran and it's attitude and the shrines. All flights should be limited. Tourism, the airlines, the cruise industry and many others will take a hit but that is already happening anyway. No one with half a functioning brain is planning a vacation overseas, or taking a cruise, etc. I was appalled when I saw the numbers on testing. At first I thought I read it wrong and it was one county but nope, it was the whole country. I am not a prepper but I am for this. My pantry is full and every week I buy more. I know at our hospital, they quarantine possible contagious illnesses until R/O with appropriate testing while using required personal protective equipment and environment. Visitors are ALSO required to follow quarantine guidelines or NO visiting. That should be standard of care throughout the entire US. If no ppe available I would think you’d have every right to refuse assignment to that patient until such time that it is available for personnel. If the availability of ppe is really an issue I’d definitely be calling the Risk Management Department first. If needed, contact a personal lawyer for your protection and call the State Licensing Board for assistance protecting your hard earned license. In fact I’d call the licensing board to ask questions prior to your shift. The hospital administration will NOT protect you so protect yourself! Make sure you have your own malpractice insurance, most hospitals will throw staff under the bus to protect itself!

I crunched the numbers on this. The expected "pandemic spread" rate is that 60% of the American public 180 million of the 300 million (10 year old census) people will get this. At a 15% needing hospital care the first time around; that's 27 million people. The US had a total hospital admission of 40 million people last year; so unless the US ups its hospital capacity by 80%; it's not going to be adequate. At a 3% death rate; of 180 million infected would be 5,400,000. death toll in the US. (provided the medical infrastructure doesn't buckle from the load); when it does, apparently that jumps to 5% or possibly even higher. Also, Trump said that based on what scientist know about the type of virus this is; it's likely to hit a "second wave" in the fall. Which this brings me to my next question? If recontacted patients get sicker the second or 3rd time around; how long has this thing really been circulating? Did the first "pandemic" already happen and the world never noticed because no one had died yet? Everyone just 'had a cold"?

Dr. Campbell, can you please help us understand the severity of this? I struggle to figure this out. China has taken unprecedented steps to control the virus. This tells me that the virus is horrific, especially with the impossible challenge of fighting a virus that's possibly airborne, or at least becomes aerosolized. And yet, even though we in Canada and the US are told that outbreaks here are inevitable, we're still encouraged to go about our daily lives, despite the fact that asymptomatic patients could potentially be spreading the virus to a large number of people. If this disease were horrific, wouldn't health experts encourage self-isolation *long* before an outbreak comes to light? I think you mentioned in a recent video that you're of the opinion that people should stop shaking hands at church. But wouldn't attending church in the first place be potentially dangerous?
@MsLookinup4 жыл бұрын
Really, really good points.
@alexandrebriard91754 жыл бұрын
It’s because it’s not an horrific disease, most of the cases 80% are fine tho I think it’s much more contagious than the governments are telling us, for exemple the R0 is supposed to be between 2 and 4 tho it’s been the second time here in France that people have spread the virus to more than 12 people. The thing is that a virus like that can be very dangerous once we have a lot of cases but because right now the cases are less than a thousand in Europe people are not scared and won’t do anything... if you compare it to a much more lethal and violent disease like Ebola you can see that the reaction time is much faster when the disease is deadly. Still if we do not react quickly there will be a lot of deaths, but because we are in democratic countries the government will struggle to take measures like in China and let’s be honest they will probably not.

In the United States, especially in rural communities we are not prepared for this situation. The president and his people keep saying there is no problem and we are prepared, when in reality we are not. That is extremely dangerous.
@thomasjefferson60804 жыл бұрын
Quite the opposite. Rural communities are very prepared. They have guns, food stockpiles, anything and everything you can think of. It’s the cities that are in jeopardy.

Hello John, Again Thank you for all your truthful information. I do so appreciate it all! I am from the U.S. in a rural area of upstate n.y. Have chronic COPD / Emphysema , on oxygen 24/7. Ok so feeling like a sitting duck, I am over 60, No I dont go out much , I live in the woods w my animals , I still do as much as I can for myself & have a circle of friends that shop, get my mail, etc. I am fortunate! BUT I asked my in home nurse that visited once a week after last hospital stay in Oct. 2019, could they handle an outbreak of any kind here ? He said absolutely could NOT even begin to think of that. At that time there wasnt enough bottles of in hospital oxygen to go home with & had to bring my own to go home, they were short on breathing equipment , etc.This is in October 19. These nurses saved my life, and are such hard workers , and tired as they are understaffed .At that time in hosital my whole floor had coughing going on that I could hear. Fortunately I was in room by myself , now this was in October of 2019. Recently in March, I have had friends sick, with pneumonia, coughing etc, I havent heard of many tests done except maybe for influenza & they send ya home with a z-pack. I know it is flu season But now its a big worry...People here I have talked to ABOUT COVID19 have told me , I DONT WANT TO KNOW- It is a frustrating and irresponsible attitude, as am sure you are feeling this as well .

Can you discuss why these viruses come in waves? I believe there were 3 waves between 1918-1922.
@terrid.92044 жыл бұрын
This is just a guess but mutations in the virus could have been a reason. Mutations can create both milder and more virulent strains and those changes can alternate as viruses are always mutating as they infect new hosts.
@Irishtradchannel4 жыл бұрын
@@terrid.9204 What Terri said. Viruses get milder over time, it's how they evolve to survive.
@1dayumay5484 жыл бұрын
Irishtradchannel but getting milder it’s not considered to be a mutation? Or is it? I mean like a major mutation to be considered as a ‘wave’? I think it’s not a mutation in this case, it’s more like a natural thing, am I right?
@terrid.92044 жыл бұрын
@@Irishtradchannel no I said viruses alternate getting milder and stronger through mutations. There is no knowing which way they wiil change from time to time.
@ravenkeefer31434 жыл бұрын
Novel, new virus tends to have varied symptoms. Then second pass is more effective on weakened immunity. In Spanish, actually a swine flu, though natural mutation, the waves coordinated with troop movements. This covid is manipulated. Will act as bioweapon regardless of intended purpose...3 blooms...
