There’s three different options the Air Force has with this new guidance. They can rescind it, they can actually implement these new standards into policy, which means it will be this way indefinitely (which is highly unlikely), or the most likely option, they will hold this in place until 14 May 2021.

@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
The standards in this video are the correct ones. A lot of recruiters still have old standards, and they use them so that you all can be in better condition than what basic training expects. That way if you’re working out to reach the higher standards, when you go to basic you’ll crush it.

Great video! Two questions for you. If I am on testosterone replacement therapy because of low T (not because I’m trying to be a bodybuilder lol) am I allowed to have my weekly injections while at BMT? Second question: I have an artificial disc (C5-C6) in my spine after disc replacement surgery. Recovery has been amazing and right now I can pass the requirements you listed without a problem, but will my surgery make me medically disqualified? I am a 38 year old police officer who has been thinking about the Air National Guard. Thank you!
@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
I would love to help, but I haven’t dealt with either of those. Both are pretty significant, and I’m sure it won’t be easy, but there’s always a possibility. Sorry I can’t help, but what I would recommend is you gather all the medical documents and physical therapy documents regarding both conditions, pharmacy record for the last 5 years, and any doctors recommendations you can get. Take those to a recruiter and have them send them up to MEPS for review. The only person who can tell you if you’d be qualified if the chief medical officer at MEPS. If he/she says know, then request your records be sent to the surgeon general. If they deny you, then that’s where your process will stop. If they approve you, you’d be all good and can make this happen. Good luck.

It’s NOTAM 20-007. It was implemented 14 May 2020. It is expected to go back to normal 14 May 2021. The only thing that changed for basic training was the waist measurement. They’re not doing them anymore. Still the same push ups, sit ups and run time. Then when you get to tech school, it has changed altogether. They have an entirely different PT test. Hey thanks for these videos. This information is helpful. I have a question and if anyone reads this and has gone through this can you let me know your situation? So a few years ago a cop gave me a ticket saying they found weed in my car. The cop was fired/resiigned by the time the case was called to court and the case dropped. I'm guessing it will still show up on my record that I was arrested. I spoke with a recruiter who says since I've been charged my ONLY option is to sign an open mechanical contract. I understand that if it seems like I engaged in criminal conduct the military isn't gonna give me an intel or top secret job but how does that equal only mechanical?
@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
That’s the recruiters stipulations. I know it sucks, but you gotta keep in mind, even though the charge was dropped, you are still disqualified to join the Air Force until a commander gives you their blessing. The recruiter does not have to work your waiver, because it’s the recruiters discretion and there’s a lot of work involved. So before recruiters initiate this long procedure and vouch for you, they wanna make sure at the end of this you’re going to meet the Air Force needs. And right now and pretty much always, the Air Force needs are mechanical jobs. I came in 15 years ago with a waiver and I had to take an electrical aptitude area. I cross trained into Intel 6 years later with no issues. The mechanical aptitude area is your foot in the door. So if you really want the Air Force, you’re gonna have to show your recruiter that you’re worth it. I hope this doesn’t come off as insensitive but this is the way. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Is it hard to get a waiver approved currently? I don't have a gallbladder and had it removed years ago with no problems .someone told me it would be difficult to get in .is that true?
@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
Having organs removed is always tough to get approved, but it’s possible. What you’re gonna wanna do is gather all the medical documents regarding the gall bladder from start to finish. Then take them to a recruiter so they can send them to MEPS. Once at MEPS, the doctors will comb through your documents and decide whether or not you’re eligible. I hope the helps.

I'm in the process of enlistment, just took the asvab for the Air Force and score exceptionally high. What's the best way to get a contract for a guaranteed AFSC?
@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
It’s really hard to get your number 1 job choice unless your number 1 choice is in demand. If you scored exceptionally high, a way you can have some control over your job is to take a special test, like the defensive language aptitude battery test for a linguist job. The Air Traffic scenarios test for an air traffic controller job. The electronic data processing test for either the scientific applications specialist or computer systems programming job. You can also ask to do an audition tape for broadcast journalism. Lastly you can ask your recruiter what jobs are in demand right now, that are hard to qualify for. These jobs are always in need, but even if you list them and qualify for them, does not guarantee you’d get the job. The Air Force is weird like that. Sometimes even when you’re qualified for one of these jobs, they need you to take another job instead. This is rare, but it’s possible. So just keep that in mind. What were you hoping to do??
@intermodalman1234 жыл бұрын
@@Jodywithawhy Ideally I'd like to be a loadmaster but upon talking to my recruiter and a mentor who used to be recruiter I realize that's probably not going to happen. My main desire is knowing what I'll be doing, I don't want to get all psyched thinking "Yeah I'm gonna be a missile tech!" Just to get let down with my 9th or 10th pick.
@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
I feel ya. The job process was my least favorite part about recruiting, because anything can happen based off of your list. But the cries have been heard, and the Air Force has tried limiting the open job contracts this year, to see how it affects recruiting. Still have to list 7-10 Jobs, but they’re doing few open job contracts. So that’s a plus. I will say this, loadmaster and firefighters are really hard jobs to acquire. If you wanna fly, maybe airborne linguist would be more ideal.

@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
That’s really flexible. What I would suggest is talk with your recruiter, and let them know you’re willing to ship as quick as possible. This puts you into a group of people, that the Air Force is trying to find a job to help you leave quicker. The thing about it is it can be any job as long as you qualify for it. So you really gotta be sure you’re willing to leave quick.

Hey i have 2 questions. 1. Is it true that if somebody gets the virus or if they are hospitalized they are permanently disqualified from joining (im seeing both and really confused but i do not have the virus🙏🏽) 2. Can i still join and pass through meps if i am slightly underweight. I have a high metabolism and ifs VERY difficult for me to gain weight.
@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
1. The Air Force actually made this pretty difficult for us to understand too. But from what it sounds like, MEPS isn’t wanting to clear anyone with a confirmed case of COVID. So they’re DQ’ing everyone. But.....they’re sending those medical records to the Air Force surgeon general, who can ultimately give the approval for people to join. So just to simplify, MEPS will DQ you, then it goes to the surgeon general who will make the final decision. If the Surgeon General DQ’s you, then you’re DQ’d for real. 2. Yes as well. If you’re slightly underweight, the Air Force can use your body mass index. As long as that number is over 17.5, you should be good. Keep in mind, some recruiters don’t like using BMI.

The exercises - They’ll figure out where you are physically when you first get there. Then build you up. Still gonna be a lot to do from jump, but you’ll get there. The yelling - it stops after basic training. You basically get paid to be yelled at for 8.5 weeks. It’s not that bad. Eating - you gonna eat. They feed you 3 meals a day. Good food too. I guess what part about eating are you worried about?? Phone usage - you just gonna have to deal with that phone missing for 8.5 weeks. Lol. You’ll get it back afterwards, but it’ll be gone the entire time during basic. These are legit reasons to be nervous too. I don’t want you to feel like they’re not. These are the things most people are worried about. But the only way to get over this, is make that move. The nerves will be there the entire time. But then once you make it through basic, you’ll be like “ok. That wasn’t that bad”. Trust.

Lol. You get paid $1603 a month for the first 4 months starting day 1. After 4 months you start making $1733 a month. Here’s the pay chart, you can see for yourself how much we get paid. www.google.com/amp/s/www.navycs.com/amp-charts/2020-military-pay-chart.html As far as being yelled at while eating, they do tell you when to eat (but only for 8.5 weeks), but they don’t tell you what to eat. You actually get to pick your food while in basic. You go through a line, and just tell the people working the line what you want. The training instructors may yell a bit while y’all eat, but not as much as they would for the rest of the day.

@Jodywithawhy4 жыл бұрын
It is very different as far as PT goes. They try and work you guys harder, because they know you need to be in top shape after BMT graduation. Those BMT flights (groups of airmen attending BMT) are not as often as regular flights. They have to get a big enough group of you guys first, before they have a big enough flight for BMT. They also schedule you guys for BMT based off when you wanna go and how much you’re crushing the PAST. If you’re barely passing the PAST test, you may be waiting a while to go to BMT.
