This course is included in Environmental Health however when you graduate, you have to take extra causes like SAMTRAC if you are interested in pursuing a career in OHS which is, to me, repetition of all the modules we already did during 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of tertiary studies. Correct me if I'm wrong, maybe I'm missing something but it seems as if Environmental Health in South Africa is not taken seriously, it's like the the 4year degree course doesn't have a place in the workforce with the exception of being an Environmental Health Practitioner. Let's talk about this...

That is not true. thousands of Ohs officers are unemployed. No one advertises these jobs. I sit with a data base of unemployed Safety officers well trained and experienced.

This woman has just misrepresented the section of the act. Health and safety representatives are not health and safety officers. Nonsense what this woman has uttered. How can she come on tv & the first thing she says about the ohs act is interpreted upside down. At least Ncongwane assisted to get some clarity on this critical subject...

People always confuse a Safety Rep. And a Safety Officer. I always tell them it's not the same thing!!
