Hard not to shed a tear. My coworker asked me to order a recording of this piece for him. He didn't tell me he was dying of pancreatic cancer. I just thought he was one who appreciated the music. The meaning of this piece to him didn't become clear to me until after his death.

I'm sorry but this is fake... You cannot obtian such good audio quality / sound recording(s) by superposing hundreds of cellphone audio. Even in a professional studio... getting a real clean recording of a string instrument is extremely elaborate and difficult. The music in this video cannot be the result of multiple people all over the world with different recording setups. You would have so much polluting noise that the music would be inaudible. Even if they all had incredible recording setups... You would hear hundreds of different tones and timbres superposed on one another. You would hear car honks, streets noises, bird chipping, etc... This video is fake :s

@@10HW Yeah, the background noise would add up but it would still be quieter than the music. You wouldn't notice any random sound since it would so quiet. Check out Jacob Collier's beginning of Moon River and the bts

There are now multiple audio software platforms that allow for multitrack editing, wherein the sinewaves can be alligned and any extraneous noise can be filtered, such as the rustling of page turns, throat clearing, breathing, and etc.

This became one of my two favorite pieces in college, along w/ Wagner Tristan & Isolde Prelude. I also cry when this is played; but here....with only celli...I am touched more deeply, I think, than when played by full string orchestra. It's almost like the union of deeply spiritual with almost a sexual joy. Hard to put into words.

Then there is the music like this and choir videos that show how Americans and others can pull together and give of themselves. And it gives me hope for the future of the human spirit and for our world. Thank you

This video was recommended to me. This is my second time listening to it. I was about to click into another tab, but I felt like watching the people play for a little longer. I saw a face that looked familiar, did a double take, skipped to the credits looking for a Walworth. He was my 6th and 7th grade orchestra teacher. Never expected to see anything of him since he switched jobs. I still have my student email, so I might mention it to him. Pretty cool.

@@LisaCupcake The same people who say this pandemic is not real are mostly also anti-vaxxers and are waiting with bated breath for polio to return - if one judges them by their actions. It’s like at the gynecological check-up where the dr asks “are you trying to get pregnant?” and the (usually) young patient replies “no” and then dr asks “what protection methods do you use” and the patient replies “no physical methods” (eg. the “calendar” or whatever) and acts surprised when the dr then paraphrases “so, you are trying to get pregnant, check, let’s make sure your diet is good and you get enough folic acid”. There’s only so far one can go proclaiming “nothing’s burning” while their hair are on fire, you know :)

Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) is a choral composition in one movement by Samuel Barber, his own arrangement of his Adagio for Strings (1936). In 1967, he set the Latin words of the liturgical Agnus Dei, a part of the Mass, for mixed chorus with optional organ or piano accompaniment. The music, in B-flat minor, has a duration of about eight minutes.

Incredible. This project undertaking must have been massive. I too am a musician, and I feel an incredible movement in their performance. The video guy got a little nutty, but I just closed my eyes and absorbed this resounding beauty of a performance. Doing it this way, apart from each other, tended to create a softness in the attack of each note that would probably not have happened had they been seated and playing together. A truly “different” sound apart from the standard performing orchestra. Tony Rogers, this is pure genious.

It so painfully illuminates what we've lost during the pandemic, but simultaneously embraces us with a sense of hope and for a return to normalcy. The joy of seeing live music, to witness your loved one's perform or experience your own performance will eventually return. Actually, with this, music is clearly still alive and well. The gift of music is unsung in the accounting of the great Gifts granted by the Almighty; and yet it, and the talent to produce it is one of the finest of gifts it is possible for our species to produce. It comes from beyond this Earthly existence, and transcends our own short time here in this form. God bless all who shared their gifts and a piece of their own hearts in the memorializing of their loved ones here. God bless the healing of humanity in every possible way; long after Covid is vanquished.

Wow! That was so moving. And one of my favourite pieces of music. The end with the memorial photos had me close to tears. Beautifully done!

Good, you know you are alive, rejoice. The Adagio is a hymn to resilience, that will that girds one to rise above whatever sorrows one might have suffered and take hope. Perhaps the reason I love the Adagio so much, is the story it tells without words.
