@@bryanprime3438 my favorite two scenes lol and the women will love this hahaha 🤣: Casey Jones appearing in the door way to rescue(not just Ralph who he sees him as equal to himself) but a young man he can hold his own against not just stupid air head foot soldiers (but beat up Shedders second to himseldlf student Tatsu) Plus, as an added bonus, "Michaelangelo's stated that Casey looked like Wayne Gretzky (who btws) was a famous hockey player.. Secondly Casey approached turtles Father Splinter while he was chain ⛓️ up 🐀 ⛓️. He asked Casey "Who are you?" Not just out of curiosity, Casey wasn't afraid to answer "My name is Casey Jones, I'm a friend!" And that scene brought so many tears 😭 😭😭... If you #MrVideo you ever watch the last of these 3 movies: Raphael asked to guard Splinter with his life, in so many words while they go on another mission. Casey replied "I will be a serious Honor 🫡! I got this 🏑

It was so much better than every other iteration, even its own sequels. TMNT 2 was fun, and I loved the Vanilla Ice scene. But it went soft on the weapons combat, replaced my goddess April, and just got goofy. Three was good but a bit subdued.

@@rossrobertson674 there's so many adult themes in this action packed film(even though it's clearly a kids movie) The turtle wax with(that's an adult reference) Mich-aegelo( westerns call him "Mike-Angelo" ) one of the famous Italian reissance artist. Leonardo's and Raphael are the closest in age(however, Leo has more advanced specialized training) he can beat the other 3 turtles with little effort. Donatello I love his bow staff(however according to what sources say) these 4 *Shinobi* Terrapins are masters, years later of each of their individual weapons.

The Turtles' facial puppetry is so expressive thanks to Jim Henson's Creature Shop! The first movie is by far the best! Those stunt actors in the Turtle suits really gave their all!

All the puppeteers and the actors inside the "turtle suits" and I can not for the life of me remember their Exact placement(this is called breaking the fourth wall) are featured in this movie. I believe one of them is featured inside the taxi 🚕 cab as the passenger in the back side, when Ralph gets hit and tumble over the other side of the vehicle.. There's also a thing called "Product Placement" and " Focus Groups" if you see a Sabaros pizza store, or a famous pawn store, that's a focus group to get people buy their products. Product Placement is those part of the marketing teams: if you see someone drinking a Pepsi, or a millerlight, or a Budweiser truck driving by or a person using a then called a Macintosh device aka Apple product/ someone using a Sony vcr, TV or Sony radio or Sony headphones(those are Sponsored companies who buy a few scenes into the movie) in hopes it will boost their sells.. The Grip Team and Stage Managers, they are part of those groups do camera angles for those sponsored items

To me, this film is part of the great trinity of 90s films. TMNT perfectly portrays the 1980s becoming the 1990s and brilliantly portrays most of the action tropes that were popular in the 80s and the tropes that would become popular in the 90s. You picked a great watch, Leo.

The other two are the original Bill and Ted movies, prefecture encapsulating both the lackadaisical attitude of the 90s as well as the massive popularity of weird and strange comedy, and Wayne's World, which showed the very different materialism of the 90s and the new breed of satire and parody of pop culture and reference humor. Not to mention all three (or four) of these movies are just dripping with 90s cheesiness in every scene.

@@ShaDHP23 I can't deny those are all awesome choices. ;) Bill & Ted was a turning-point for me. I loved the humour, but also the sci-fi elements. I watched the first two Bill & Ted movies, and Wayne's World probably way too many times back then. (Betamax deck, FTW) Wayne's World was also the first time I heard linear stereo on a VHS deck at home. It sounds silly now, but it was SO much betteer for music than the crusty old mono soundtrack. (plus it unlocked Pro-Logic a bit later on.) I... haven't seen the new Bill & Ted, though. It feels like it would spoil the memory of the originals. lol

I saw it at the movies when I was 12, It contains some elements of the 1987 cartoon (such as the turtles wearing different coloured masks) it more closely follows the 1984 comics (such as splinter and shredder's backstory) hopefully you're up for sequels although they're not as dark in tone as the first movie

A few years back I bought 11 sealed first edition 12" DC figurines (Superman, 3 versions of Batman, The Joker, Robin, Harley Quin, Cyborg, Aquaman, Shazam and the flash) and i hate looking at them on the shelf in their boxes as all i want to do now even as an adult is play with them... I bought them to try some stop animation type stuff and when i got them that exact thing you're talking about happened, i started to wonder about could they be worth something in 10...20 years so i haven't opened them and it sucks 😁

generally speaking I'm not 100% sure their ages were ever actually specifically mentioned. However different stories have them at different teenage points. This movie seems to have them at just about 18 years old or very close to that. The new movie that just came (Mutant Mayhem) has them acting closer to the ages of 13 - 14. They seem extrenmely young. But the main general feelinh is that they are roughly about 17 - 19 years old (in human comparison. They may actually BE older because they're are turtles after all.

@@rossrobertson674 Well Yeah the cartoon was made for kids so that makes sense. But the Original created Turtles were for older teen audiences. I mean Spinter trained them to KILL Shredder. That was his main objective. That's a rather "mature" aspect to put in a Satursday morning cartoon. So they made adjustments. such as making the Foot Clan robots and having Splinter actually BE Hamato Yoshi uinstead of just his pet rat.

Great reaction! When I was a baby, in my Mom’s stomach in 1984 (coincidentally the year TMNT comics began), she was walking home from the subway station at night in the snow and slipped on the ice falling to the ground. People literally walked over and around her, some actually trampled her. These were everyday New Yorkers, so yeah the criminals can be pretty bad. Though, I love my city and there are good and great people too. We’re both alive and strong as heck to this day, so it made us tougher.

there is one thing that I wanted to say about the Turtles. I've had discussions and some argyuments about WHICH Turtle is (actually) the most talented fighter. The vast Majority split the vote between Leodardo and Raphael. Both sides admit that each on is a bad ass in theior own ways. However I have a point of view that I wanted to share. Imagine for one second that the Turtle with thoe MOST untapped potential and skill is Michealangelo. Keep in mind that he can hang with his brothers toe to toe; and all while being a constant goofball and smart-ass. Imagine for one second if he actually took his martial arts seriously like Leo or Raph?? There's actually a brief glimpse of his skiil in THIS movie. There's a very quick steady frame of him matching Shredder move for move and holding his own, before Shredder makes a move that's too quick for Mikey and he flips Mikey over backwards. None of the others so much as lasted more than two moves. Until Leo holds his own and actually cuts him.

Funny I have the same instinct. My take is, Raph is unmatched in ferocity, Leo is unmatched in technical practice and finesse, but Mikey is a drunken master in-the-making who flies under the radar, disarms with appearances while quietly observing, and then strikes when the enemy least suspects it. While the others have raw strength and intellect, Mikey fights with calm improvisation and intuition, the "wise guy" who's suddenly a wise fighter. Even here as the young-in of the group, all his jokes and tangents mid-fight seem like he's messing around -- but actually, he's tricking the enemy into exhausting themselves on the "easy target", and once he's got them frustrated and out of breathe, he happily one-shots them. And make no mistake, of the four main weapons in the group, nunchaku are the most difficult to wield. By far.

80s kids went and saw this movie in droves, and seeing the Turtles in live action blew their fucking minds. Plus, it was a lot darker than the cartoon.

One thing to keep in mind is how new turtles where in 1990. At the time you only had two universes: the mirage comic and the cartoon. Comics in 1984 where a different world and had much smaller groups. From 1984-1986 TMNT was known by a smaller-but dedicated- adult audience. TMNT was R rated-the foot was real people rather then the foot robots. The turtles swore, drank beer and blood flowed in battles and they where not afraid to slice up the foot. So the cartoon version made changes including a color headband change to make it easier for kids to tell them apart as they all wore red originally. So in 1987 the cartoon launched and the toys in 1988. Boom, turtle mania. So in 1989-1990 they decided to walk a fine line between the mirage series and the cartoon in the movie. There is silliness but intense fighting too. And raph dropped a few damns. Parents where not pleased. Many where only aware of the cartoon and the kids and had no idea about the mature comic. Most of the general public had no idea either. Keep all this in mind if you watch part 2. I find it interesting that the mirage series was still going and just as violent as it was from issue 1 but parents didn't complain about that.

TMNT (1990) is still one of my favorite comic book movies, as well as TMNT movies in general. What is brilliant about this movie is that it's a kids movie but it's not a kids movie. Unlike many other kids movies it is not dumbed down for kids. Its got a dark, edgy story with some jokes sprinkled in. Not to mention the incredible suits and the actors in the performing the stunts.

I discovered one time, that one of the creators of the comic books was doing his dishes, and at one point he stuck his hand in the inside of a cheese grater and thought "This could be a cool gauntlet. One with blades all around it. Matter of fact, it would be cooler if was everywhere!" And after talking with the co-creater, that's how they came up with Shredder!

Im 38 years old and I 1st watched this movie in theaters when I was 5 years old in 1990. This is a rare movie that you love as a kid and grow to love even more as an adult. The fight between the turtles and shredder still gives me goosebumps.

This was and still is one of my favorite movies ever. I watched the cartoon forever, played the games and even watched some of the newer turtle series. I read the classic turtles comics that this movie is loosely based on hence the more grown up approach to the turtles in this movie with a dash of the cartoon.

fun fact: the turtles actually have last names. splinter considered hamato yoshi his father and thus is considered a member of the hamato clan. so splinter's full name is hamato splinter. and the turtles followed suit: hamato mikey, hamato leo, hamato don, and hamato raph.

a few more fun facts: 36:12. the kid said the warehouse was called the eastman warehouse and it was located on laird island. that was a small nod to kevin eastman and peter laird, the creators of the ninja turtles. and that kid? that's sam rockwell. this was one of his first major movies in his early career. he would go on to win a oscar later in his career. meaning this movie produced a oscar award winning actor. the costume were designed by none other than the legendary jim henson, the creator of the muppets and one of the greatest puppet makers and puppeteers of all time. they created 2 sets of suits for the turtles: one for for acting and speaking parts and one of the action scenes. because of the need to make the suits good as well as making them mobile enough for the stuntmen to do the fighting, henson would say that those suits were the most advanced puppet suits he ever worked on. sadly, this movie would the last project henson work on. he died of toxic system shock 2 months after the movie's release. the movie cost about 18 million to make. it gain a distributor in new line cinema, which was a very small indie movie company at the time. despite mixed reviews, the movie would gross 32 mil on its opening weekend, the second biggest opening for a US film, with the first being "batman". it would go on to gross over 200 mil world wide, becoming the highest grossing independent film ever up to that point and the 9th highest grossing film of 1990.

This movie is seriously underrated. Its dark and the story is well written. Sure, it is dated due to the technology but the movie is easily the best TMNT movie to date. It is not overly kid friendly like the sequel nearly all the other stuff since then. This was a good movie. Plain and simple.
