I usually wash my 7yo's hair in the shower. I've tried in the tub, leaning over tub, and do as you do in the kitchen sink except I use folded towels for a head rest. Her hair is long but nowhere near as thick as your girls & she hates wash day. I let her apply the condish so she won't complain.
