I've been wearing cowboy boots in the UK for about 10 years and never had any issues. That said I do feel kind've self-conscious about ones that make a noise when you walk so I tend to go for ones with less of a heel etc.

I live in the UK . I have got 3 pairs of cowboy boots 1 black 1 brown and 1 rough out beige colour. I never ever had a bad comment. I wear them quite often as we know in the uk weather it’s raining almost every day. I ride a Harley as well so it goes good with the tough look 😎🤣 and also perfect for riding.I think the biggest problem if you go with the too flashy jump in the face colours. If you get a plain black or brown nobody would even notice you wear cowboy boots they almost look like a Chelsea boot just a bit higher. End of the day wear whatever makes you happy I wear them because they are very comfy and very versatile. 🤙🏼

From California, but it's exactly the same with me. Have two pairs of cowboy boots. While the weather isn't too extreme out here, I do wear them off and on in the winter and like you, I've got a black pair and I have a brown pair, which I like to spit shine. Like you, I'm not keen on flashy colors or wild designs. Plain, basic and classic is plenty fine for me.

As a resident of the UK I would say that people would consider them "gay" as weird as that sounds. The whole "cowboy" thing. I wear them here and they are great regardless of whether they are fashionable.

I live in the Netherlands, and have spent a lot of time in the UK. I've been wearing exclusively cowboy boots for the last ten years or so, and while I do occasionally get comments when people notice, along the lines of "those are so cool", I haven't been laughed at or ridiculed in any way. I did feel incredibly self-conscious when I started wearing them, but that's something which goes away with time. For anyone in the UK (or broader Europe) reading this - just go for it!

That is true. The shortcut to our local shop involves walking along the edge or the fields and no one takes any notice when I wear my leather jeans in the morning to prevent my pants getting soaked in dew. When I wore them on a visit to London, a guy came over and recommended a new gay club. It was so funny at the time. He looked really puzzled when my wife came out of the shop and took the dog. 😃

I’m from the UK, and I like cowboy boots myself, but I think it’s seen as a bit of a costume unless it’s a fashion variation of a cowboy boot on a woman (because it’s in right now). It’s tall boots on a man that I think is the issue here. Even a man wearing long English riding boots in his day to day life would be odd unless he was in the country and say lived that lifestyle. Whereas it is fashionable for women to wear any sort of long boots. In fact I see women wearing long wellies if it’s raining but hardly men. Though if men did on a rainy day, no one would laugh at them because they’re serving their practicality. Probably all just a fashion norm thing related to femininity and masculinity. These are observations from London though. Don’t know about the rest of the country too much.

I’m from AZ and visiting the UK (and 3 other countries) right now, and I wear cowboy boots at home. I didn’t bring or wear them to UK for one, alot of walking. Boots are comfy but after so long, your feet do hurt. Second, I have TSA precheck and don’t have to take off my shoes, but boots I have to because of the shank, and most are a PITA without a boot Jack. So won’t wear on a plane, and they’re too bulky to pack.

In the uk you can wear lots of types of boots and especially outdoor boots and be respected, cowboy boots however look a little daft on us britts so it is assumed that the guy wearing them is a bit daft. While that's not the case most of the time it's just a stigma that comes with it. If a brit goes to America and wears them out there fine cuz they fit in more but I don't know what do you guys think?

at first people will notice a lot, with time you will be just the "cowboy boot guy" (it is like a cool leather jacket you know?) the thing that really matters is your confidence without them, then is just another thing you put on because clothes just say little things like "i like western movies" or "i appreciate quality".

Hey, Europe is a whole other place. They got their own stuff. The British and euro-folks I've met here in Dallas dress just as casual as folks here do. And also, not that many have as bad of teeth, like I us'ta think. I don't know or care what they wear over there in euro-land; God bless 'em though, I hear the weather's bad over there, so they probably look like the Gorton's Fisherman logo icon. That's cool too. If they don't like boots, I'll just stay my azz here in Texas and have a cold-beer. They can come here and have a beer with me too and wear what they wan'na. Bring me one of them British bowling hats y'all wear, I think they're very snazzy in Herringbone tweed. Pip-pip cheerio, I do say, and all that matey, righty-o. Spot-o-tea for ya Guv-nah.

You know, come to think of it, the Beatles wore a shortened ankle boot that was pretty cool in the 60s. With a little added stitching design in the boot, they could have passed as ankle high cowboy boots. Then in the 70s, in the UK, a zippered taller boot was worn as fashion changed things over to the colorful leather platform boots/shoes into the 80s. I wasn't into the platform shoes/boots but I sure miss my suede and patten leather boots I wore over there in the 70s. Not sure why this obviously younger person would make such a comment like that. Cowboy boots are still popular in Spain and Portugal in Europe. Some of the best boots are handmade by Mayura in Spain and will rival some of the Tony Lama boots in the US.

You can have your trousers over the boots though, can't you? I think it would barely be noticeable. I had this same kind of anxiety about buying military jack boots, thinking I would get lynched by the locals, but if they are under your trousers, they are pretty much the same size as a shoe, and who really pays attention to what shoes a stranger is wearing?

You just made me laugh, remembering the day when the dry grass around a barbecue caught alight and a guy wearing cowboy boots and Wranglers just stood and watched his girlfriend stomping it out, rather than get ash on his boots or embers on his jeans. He did not seem in the least bothered that the girl was wearing sandals and shorts. Perhaps the funniest moment was then he shouted to her, telling her to be careful and roll her shorts up to prevent the embers getting inside them or catching the frayed denim alight. My biggest surprise was that when I saw him a few months later, he was still with the same literally hot girl.😃😃

Dress like the locals or you will get looks. Most won't say anything, but people think. If you look odd or dress odd, people will just avoid you. It's easy to say "I don't care what people think", but most do anyway, it's stupid not blend in just a little bit because without it you won't make friends and miss out on opportunities.
