I ran out into the night right after an Iggy show at the Harvard Square theater in 1977. I was alone in front of the theater on Mass. Ave. A limo pulled around the corner and stopped at the traffic light in front of me. I knew. I ran up to it and knocked on the smokey windows. And then....then....Iggy...David Bowie...and Debbie Harry all leaned forward and waved earnestly ....teeth gleaming. The light changed...the limo sped off ....I was alone with that moment no one saw. When I hear " 5 Years", I think of that slow motion dream moment. Only...it was real.

This is my favorite video on KZbin hands down. I grew up listening to cowboy junkies, fell in love with their sound, and they’re one of the bands that inspired me to do music as a career. And David bowie has had the same profound effect on me. So when I saw this video, I just cried. And listened to it ten, fifteen more times. I need this on an album!!! 💕💕

+Michael Timmins just realized a CJ album of lamenting, ponderous covers, like this one, would be HUGE. You're better now, and bolder than ever. An honest, open-souled, tribute could fill today's hole in song. (I love your personal creations more, but the "fifth member" covers provide adds another dimension, as you know well, and could reach a wider audience.) Your legacy to the Mainstream consists of such, so rather than fight your strengths, just embrace them. Your real fans will still support you unwaveringly, and your kids will go to nice colleges. ;)

And thats just because she sings (and the rest of the band plays) with such conviction, perhaps b/c the relevance of the earth dying in five years is even more poignant now then ever before.....
