Had this track on a cassette tape back in Highschool in the 90s. Used to cruz around late at night driving my 1986 Fiero GT, letting my mind wander and contemplating my exit strategy out of the only town I had ever known. Now I would do anything to break back into that youthful existence…back to that same time and place…

True, tho one car try: Real? Visceral? Ethereal? Soulful, graceful to a point of tears while maintaining composure by the same qualities? The more I've listened to them, the more I'm able to appreciate the beauty & greatness of these individuals through the brilliance of their bittersweet music. Perhaps what makes them so appealing & relatable to some is their music seems born of their own unique experience & struggle with life's familiar abyss of pain, human imperfection, frailty, & constant trial, which they've, nonetheless, overcome via sheer determination & will to succeed with the resulting extraordinarily blessed, unique artistic expression that is entirely their own. Some can't help but admire, champion the supreme underdog these cats truly are & so faithfully represent.

@@spiderz81 If you ever hear birds singing, see kids playing and people scurry by, talking on a cell phone like you don't exist, you may feel isolated from the world. I did. It was tough to get moving in the morning but remember you're not alone. Some of us can empathize. Living in a haunted house made me realize that we don't have souls. WE ARE SOULS that travel in bodies like drivers in cars. That's not a joke. It was real. A foot on the gas pedal and a full tank of gas are a combination of motivation and ambition. Your tank is nearly empty but it will get refilled. The brakes are your self-control and the rear view mirror contains memories of what you've been through. The windshield is how we view situations we approach. Going through some nasty puddles can alter one's view of the world. Good wipers and enough fluid are like spiritual cleansing. Where the road ahead diverges are the choices we can make.

This is one of those songs that I don't think about for forever, until I hear it somewhere and then I listen to it a hundred times. Love it. IMHO the very best, and certainly most haunting, rendition of this song. Margo is the best!!!

Many of the comments reflect upon a loved one's death. I pray we'll all know true peace & acceptance plus pass on some of the love we knew/learned while they were alive & become better humans in honor of the bonds of love shared with the departed. My spouse died in 2000, my sister in 2015, my only son in 2019 & my last sis has stage 4 cancer. I'm learning much about grief, surviving it & surprising myself in the process. There are treasures to be found in darkness. Please be safe in these weird times.
