When people like Lou Reed blossom in the culture and create and contribute to an era defining soundtrack, it makes life worth living.

I love this song. It reminded me of what it was like for me in the 60’s. I’m waisted and I can’t find my way home. Sometimes it was scary and dangerous. In the beginning it was BEAUTIFUL later everything turned serious. Bad drugs, evil people prayed upon the young starry eyed innocents and a lot of us died, we were lucky to make our way out . I got out of at the age of17.

There are numerous versions of this which Reed loved and disavowed at various times. Different parts are central, essential or omitted. Different passing chords are the key to the whole riff or completely ignored. That's OK.
