If you aren’t able to boil the coffee to make cowboy coffee back home, you can always make a cold brew with it (where you steep a large amount of grounds for at least 48 hours in cold water/in the fridge and then filter the water from the grounds) and then make sure you have the right ratio of that coffee mixed with more water so it isn’t too strong, then pour it in a mug and microwave it for like 3 minutes. It’s basically a “hot” cold brew, but since it is steeped in cold water and not brewed hot, it will be nice and smooth and minimal acid just like cowboy coffee.

Amen on the mesquite!! Absolutely my favorite.
@ironear77483 ай бұрын
@@TexasRose50 I'm in Tennessee so the only way we see mesquite is in a bag! I have a huge hickory tree & we collect branches blown down in storms or from trimming for smoking but tried mesquite chips at a friend's once. Hickory does a great job but mesquite is better.
@TexasRose502 ай бұрын
Yep, we always had the bagged chips. Give ‘em a good soaking with water and that helps create more smoke. I always told my husband to throw my steak on the grill naked. I didn’t want any seasoning except smoke from the mesquite. In my opinion you don’t smother a good steak with a bunch of seasoning. Btw, I was in Nashville once. Beautiful country and all the people were so nice!! And I will never forget that your governor, Davey Crockett cane to Texas to fight at the Alamo! I have a hat with his saying on it…..You all can go to hell, I’m going to Texas. Anyway, thanks for your reply. Take care and be well.

Kent Rollins makes Cowboy Coffee the way I was taught by my Great Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts whom were born during late 1800's in an Campfire Coffee pot. No filters needed, ya'll know that after boiling it to set away from fire and let settle a bit for a spell and add a little bit of cold water and sit for a few more minutes to allow grounds to settle to bottom of pot. I know that ya'll live in UK and don't have old style wood cookstoves nor ability to enjoy outdoor campfires like we country folks living in various areas of Outback America which I hope sometime ya'll out N about seeing America get to do some Outback Camping 🏕 hopefully in Oregon Wilderness. We also dig up good ol natural Chicory Root and dry in wood cookstove oven for an pleasurable similar to Coffee drinking delight. Check out information online about how American Pioneers made Dandelion Bread traveling West across Prairies. My Great Grandpa John Wesley McAllister was an Wagon Train Master 1850's Era on Oregon Trail. Ya all know he drank ol fashion Cowboy Coffee from Chuck Wagon. My family were Gold Prospecting Miners in Idaho and Oregon. My Great Uncle James McAllister was member of Wild Bill Hickock's Wild West Show and he loved his Cowboy Coffee, he probably also drank Coffee made by Native Americans at campfire too LOL😊
