We did up a Fergie with a P3 engine and just out of curiosity l wrote to Perkins quoting the serial number, asking if they could provide any information about the engine. I got a fantastic reply. The engine was built on 4th Feb 1954. It was Dyno tested before it left the factory and it produced 32hp @2160 rpm, they even sent a photocopy of the original "Building instruction card" as they called it. How nice was that!

I grew up on a small US dairy farm with several little Fords. Somehow we ended up with a gadget on a shed shelf, probably from a auction junk box. It looked like a long bolt going through a round barrel like collar that had a bolt on it. No one knew what it was for. One day I ran across some Ford sales brochures and there it was. It was a row crop pointer for cultivating. You would install it it one of the unused front axle holes and align it to point down on top of the row of crop. It allowed the operator to steer by the pointer instead of by the row going through the cultivator. Worked fantastic.

Dan, the front Jack as you know is very simple. Just tubular pipe in the shape of an horseshoe, just tall enough to go underneath on a slant so that when the back is up it ends up vertical. on the base is a bit of curved flat plate with a couple of small spikes. You could make a facsimile no problem if some nice person would lend you one to copy. Ours was for a grey fergie, early fifties.

Hello Dan and the followers. Nice to see that the little old Fergie still has original equipments. I always have been keen on All what is related to Ferguson at the begining of power farming. The use of the jack is sometimes badly understood with all the features available on the Fergie. The good way to use the jack is to mount it like you did, but to lift the tractor, DO NOT USE THE ENGINE. The rear PTO shaft on actual tractors is 1"3/8. The little Fergie is fitted with a PTO shaft of 1" 1/8. WHY???? The special spanner for T20 is of 1"1/8 on one end. The PTO shaft is connected to the piston pump that allows rotating in both directions. So, with engine off, place lever of the lift to max height, put the spanner on the PTO shaft and move left & right. By doing this, the lifts raises slowly and you can adjust precisely the desired height . Ferguson was so clever !!!! If you remember Harry Ferguson in a picture with Henry Ford playing with a model T20. It is an educational model of the 3 points linkage related to grip of the tractor. I owned one as my father was a salesman of Fergie. I will post a video of the system soon. May Fergie stay with us. Philippe.

Very innovative way to jack up the tractor, l have a Ford 600 that I’m putting the finishing touches on ie hydraulics , these tractors had a lot of thought in their design , l guess that’s why a 66 year old tractor is still working.( mine)

Hello CowfarmerDan never used a ferguson jake before looks quite stable though all though people have been saying that they are not safe but if your hydraulics are not good Don, t think it would all the best stay safe & keep vids coming.

I do love how stupidly simple the fergy lift is. If I'm not wrong, I think there's a modern version for tractors that use he rear linkage to jack the rear end up? ?

That's extremely interesting. I expect plenty of these jacking systems probably ended up in scrap yard because nobody knew what they were for. What a shame.

dan ive just bought my very first tractor a 1952 gray diesel is it possible to fit a tipping pipe for a tipping trailer. im so green on this its unreal . any advice or video you have i would be very grateful
