Eric grab the filter with a 1 gal Ziploc bag. Once it's loose finish spinning the filter off in the plastic bag. You won't spill and if you do, just toss the bag...I did not see any chocolate milk containers in the trash either...chocolate milk is a great energy drink. Learned that from you.

When changing oil on any engine, I hook a shop vac to the oil fill port, turn vacuum on, drop the oil plug from the pan, scoot catch pan(bucket) under drain then shut off the vacuum. No oil slopped hands. As for the filters, a nice sharp punch to the bottom and drain out to catch pan. Filter punch may be messy on tractors, works great on 7.3 powerstroke.
@elischultes65872 жыл бұрын
I don’t think those 7000 series have a clear shot to a pan. You would probably get oil all over.
@three6ohchris2 жыл бұрын
You know what Eric, I was just thinking about it and I would have to say that you are hands down living the dream. You may not make millions, but I'd say that you are far wealthier than people that do (I realize this is a cliche to say, so I apologize. It just truthfully fits the situation so I used it) I obviously mean that in the sense that you've got such a loving family and you are able to be so close to them while working, your "job" which is something you love and enjoy so much, as well as you are able to work with your dad every day, and spend so much time with him. However, I'm sure that you both have moments where you don't want to be in the same room with each other, LOL. Anyway, the bottom line is that you are able to do something that so many of us, myself included, would absolutely love to be in some kind of similar circumstances. You're doing a darn good job sir, as well as your dad and your whole entire family. Thank you so much for sharing so much about your work day with us, as well as educating those outside of the agricultural community about how things actually work, in your case, on a family owned dairy farm. It's a beautiful thing! 🙏

Was working with a mad man of a contractor one year doing grass silage. Came back to his yard one evening after finishing for the day and he was underneath a 7810 John deere with a hammer and chisel trying to open the stump stud. Half of the head was missing... couldn't open it with a wrench so he went straight for the chisel and hammer. Ended up having to weld a bar on to the stud to open it.

And with that another day done. Have similar tractors with interchangeable parts means you only have to remember one set of numbers and get 2 of everything you need....efficiency. Electric door will be a Life saver in the winter and spring especially when its snowing or raining.. Now you need a robotic rototiller for the new building to go from pen to pen and go under the gates. So you don't have to move cows when you use the tractor to rototill

I saw a random video in my feed of a dairy that had a robotic "dipper". Really just a sprayer that the cows walked over. Had a laser that made sure that it was "dipping" in the right place. Once the cows got to the milking station they just wiped them off and milked. They had over 5,000 cows so maybe they aren't as concerned about every cow being as healthy as possible?

A little trick to stop getting the oil from the filter all over the place is the punch a small hole in the side of It with a nail and collect that with a small cup then take the filter off.
You sounded like a giddy 5-year-old talking about those floor cleaners. Well worth the price, new or used.
