Trevally fishing from a Waverunner jet ski

In this video I take the jetski out to test the new rear deck extension and flotation, targetting Trevally on softbaits in the Waikato river mouth.

Awesome. Did you hear extra rebound echo noise with rear deck, rebound friction from water jet or wake, drag on speed, handling? It looks strong and something many would be interested. I see Yamaha's rear deck 2022 has been drastically cut back on corners as they said it was too much pressure/ weight to corners, unbalanced and pressure... Similar. Thoughts?

I'm not sure what you mean about rebound echo noise? I do notice it needs a little bit more throttle to get the ski up on the plane, but once up on the plane it doesn't have any effect on how the ski handles, you don't even notice it is there. The yamaha rec deck sits up out of the water when at rest and has no positive bouyancy so if anything it will make the back of the ski more unstable, where mine sits in the water when at rest and has positive bouyancy so it increases the crafts footprint and makes it more stable when at rest

@@GCJetskiFishing interesting to know the Yamaha rec dek has no buoyancy, that is strange. Echo noise, in regards to water hitting underside and making extra noise and drag. Yours is bouyant and extends platform, which is practical and extra safety. Not sure why Rec Dek did not do this. I seen your earlier testing prototype video, good to see this design come together. Should go into more detail on the build and strength, any related install challenges. "Little bit more throttle", so a slight increase in fuel, meaning drag/ friction, this to be expected I suppose. Keep up the good content, awesome stuff mate 👍

@@NoNopeAndNo Yeah I was not impressed with the Yamaha rec dec with is why I designed version 2 of my rear extension (the one I have now). When I mention extra throttle, this is only on the innital take off, like the first 2 seconds of getting on the throttle to get the ski up on the plane is slightly harder, once on the plane it makes no difference, no drag what soever. so I would not expect fuel economy to not be any different at all to be honest
