Did it work? If not, I have another video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4SWkHyGhMasgsU) that has a lot of lone coyote yipping in it. That might trigger them to howl.

Most people hate coyotes, primarily because of their invasiveness, but I think they're as beautiful as wolves
@chexcollects3 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with them, except when you lose your dog to them. They’re a nuisance. There is typically a “coyote season” in heavily populated areas for hunting. They also devastate farms.
@@planemod8399 Unfortunately, because we've developed so much land, many animals have lost their natural habitat, and coyotes have adapted well by learning to live in wooded areas near cities. So they've become a nuisance and, since much of their prey (like rodents) have been reduced, they become aggressive and will go after small dogs and cats. In fact, stray & feral cats, including pet cats that roam outside, often become dinner for coyotes. They rarely attack humans, but can be dangerous if small children are left unattended. In my state, hunters are often paid to shoot coyotes to increase the deer population. After a couple of years, people in some communities began to complain there were too many deer, so some cities hired sharp shooters to cull the deer population. It's a vicious cycle. I don't eat meat, but at least the venison was donated to charity and fed a lot of hungry families.

A pack of coyotes is bone-chilling when you're out camping in a tent and the fire has died out. You never really know where they are but here in the Appalachian mountains, if they wake you up, they're most certainly close. When I lived in Western NC in the Great Smoky Mountains, I loved to listen to the coyotes howl and yip at night. Sometimes I'd walk out on my porch and join them. lol I moved to a small city in SC, but it's grown a lot, even in the few years since I arrived. I really miss the wildlife and, although we have plenty of birds, there were 10 times as many in the rural community where I resided. I'm guessing one reason is because of the lack of radio, TV and cell towers in the area. Anyway, I got old and everyone told me I needed to be closer to stores, doctors and other amenities, but I miss the beauty of the mountains.

This summer near my campsite I heard coyotes howl. They were terrifically CLOSE to the campsite, the sound was LOUD in my ears. The person I was with said he would get some rocks or a stick if they got too close. I howled and they started singing, yipping back to me. It was beautiful. It’s 4 am and I let my beagle outside to potty. I know there are coyotes by me, so I’ll go outside and wait with my dog to do his thing. Welp, just now I went inside, like barely inside with one foot in the door & one out- to get my big flashlight, when I hear this super creepy high pitched yipping. I initially thought “wtf is someone’s little dog doing outside right now at 4 am?!!” It actually made me shiver & scared the shit outta me. It’s such a shrill bark/yipping scary sound. I’ve never heard a coyote call in my life & I know exactly what my beagles bark/howl/baying sounds like. I point my flashlight out into my yard & neighbors yard (I live in a subdivision right in between Chicago & Milwaukee) when my dog & I both see a baby or very young coyote sitting down watching him (No, I never let my dog go outside alone at night, ever, for this reason) My dog is going nuts, so i buzzed my taser in the air once, very quickly & lightly. The taser sounds like popping a balloon or snapping an elastic really hard. It scared the coyote pretty bad. It jumped & ran away. So, now I’m not sure if it was a pup or very young bc it seems like all coyotes have a high pitched bark/howl/yip? But it wasn’t very big. Sorry for the long comment!

Not too long ago, I heard something that sounded like a dog squealing in agony, so I thought my rottweiler was hurt. I was really worried. but when I went to check on him the following morning, the body of a dead coyote was wrapped up in his chain. I attempted to unwrapped the chain from its body; before I knew what was happening, my dog's mouth grabs the coyote's head and continues to shake its neck.

This was great!! That was a gorgeous Coyote too. He/She had a gorgeous tail!! I do not blame Coyotes for being a Coyote! I lived in the Desert and got to know so much about these creatures as I could hear them all time at night, and lots of people actually had Coyote half breeds because they had property and their female Dogs would get pregnant from the Coyotes out in the Desert. Then those 1/2 Coyotes had all of the instincts of the Coyote and they were a totally different kind of dog. They would burrow in the ground and have their puppies unlike regular dogs. I had to help a few time get puppies out of holes!! And keep watch for the momma 1/2 breed so she would not attack me for getting her puppies. Good dogs all the same though.

Thanks for posting, i just moved from East Coast to West Coast. I heard dogs being tortured last night, I was going to go do something, then it suddenly just stopped. It sounded like this, only with some fighting. It was a pack of coyotes, and it freaked me out!

Yep...by these sounds, a pack of those guys just passed through my apartment complex 😰😰😰 They’ve been moving into our area here lately; or rather, people have been moving into their area.

The coyotes that come near our house every year near spring, so I was checking this to make sure it wasn't just the neighbour's dog... nope. nope. nope. Sounded like five hundred coyotes... I know probably around at least seven with two babies.

One time I was at this yurt with my girlfriend and she had to pee in the middle of the night but I really was tired so I didn’t go with her. She steps outside to relieve herself and then I hear this fucking yowl. It scared the living shit out of me. Gf runs back to the yurt terrified. She had to cut the pee mid stream. I think it was a coyote howl but it could’ve been something else even more terrifying. A Native American folk monster perhaps. I dare not ever say it’s name...

im wondering why and when they do this. does this me something specific is happening or about to happen? or is this behavior just spontaneous with no particular reason?
@kynabear58 жыл бұрын
I've read lots of speculation but I don't think anyone knows for sure. In this video, a few coyotes were gathered outside my house. They hadn't made a kill or found any special food. When we hear them howl, there usually isn't an answer from a coyote that is not with the group. I do know that coyotes in captivity still howl so it isn't necessarily to gather coyotes that are scattered far apart. I have been followed by a single coyote who stayed a 100 yds behind me for a mile or so, yipping and howling the entire time. I don't see any common reason for all the circumstances in which I've heard them howl.

I'm in Ohio and we have plenty where I am. It is mesmerizing to listen to. I have always wondered this behavior meant anything specific. I my situations, I've speculated a kill was involved but of course I really don't know for sure. On a couple of occasions it's been very close to the house at which point I start looking for the dog and cats. I appreciate your reply and insite. The population of coyotes has exploded here in the last decade. I don't know why but I'm kinda fascinated with them.

Yes +KB Bear you are right! I have lived in the Phoenix area next to a golf course for 25 yrs and see/hear coyotes regularly. They do not come close, ARE shy, and try their best to avoid humans. The media is FULL of untruths and downright bullshit for god knows what reasons!!

I went camping a month ago and I had never heard coyotes howling. Around 4 a.m. I started hearing some screeching noises in the woods. I jumped out of my sleeping bag so fast and I was petrified. I swear that they were coyotes and this video just prove this. I am never going camping again!! Thanks for sharing the video.
