No. You either know how to ranch with wildlife or you don’t. Predators are there for ecological reasons. Take out the coyotes and you will be overrun by rabbits and vermin, both which can carry diseases. The word herd means just that, herd your animals. We put dogs out with the herd which are very effective in chasing away predators.

With the drought for the past few years and having to buy hay I don’t think Mike has the resources for that kind of approach. Plus, if he takes out all the ones that are not scared of humans, only the shy ones that don’t pose a problem will be left.

Some people are just so afraid to even look at a gun so what they can cry all they want, I would carry that riffle with me all the time. When I went to high school just about everyone had a rifle in their pickup and a rifle rack in the back window, I lived in central California no body ever complained about that. Now I live about seven miles from there, now we call the state Kommiefornia. Yes that rifle is a great tool. Keep up the great channel I love watching other people work....lol.

If people complain about having a gun, then they are at the wrong site. Living on a ranch usually means protecting your livestock and property, and/or hunting game to stock the freezer. If they don't like it then go to a site that allows their crops and stock to be destroyed by predators (won't find any like that!). You have more tolerance than I do for people like that. I guess that is why I like this channel so much. Give your daughter some extra hugs and she will be ok. You do have a beautiful family, you and your wife are excellent and amazing parents. My brother was stationed in Japan for two years. The people watching the farm did not keep the coyote numbers under control. When they got back they wished it was only six coyotes. We stopped counting at twenty. They were going after the poultry and started to get under the coop fence. Yes they needed to be eliminated.

Mike, look into kayak accessories. They have different style of nets use to hold down small cooler and or stuff in crates. Hope this helps.

Hi Mike, I'm surprised your goto rifle isn't more of a varmint caliber for that longer shot with flat trajectory. One to make every shot oppertunity count 🤠

Can you attach a wagon to the 4 wheeler for additional hauling capability? Poor Bambi. She needed the 'extra' helping of cake. Can't blame her for sneaking a nibble.

You could, but the physics don't really work well for 4 wheelers. it'd bounce around a dangerous amount

I'm surprised you and Aaron LaVory haven't filmed any crossover shows. You could go to Wisconsin and take his hoof trimming class and he could go to Wyoming and trim your cattle hooves if they needed.

Even if you don’t hit them, the pressure of shooting at them drives them out further. Good luck Mike and I hope they don’t get any calf’s. We had one abort early this year also.

Nothing wrong with protecting your herd and your future bottom line. I'm a 2A sorta fella and a "Fudd" means I believe in owning guns for hunting but not into weapons of war, that being said I believe in what I believe and you are free to believe and do as needed. It's not for me to control you! Love beef myself and Angus burgers are the best imho! Tools are life for me I'm a handy man, so like you I fix stuff but I own no critters to protect. But I like wild meat, venison, feral hogs wild turkeys, fish of many kinds! I'm in awe of the job you're personally doing as a rancher and a dad and husband , God Bless you. I know where food comes from!!!

Mike, so enjoy your videos, just a suggestion, you might consider the 6.5 Creedmore, much better range than the 30-30, and a very flat shooter, or real expensive. This we'll defend.

My grandpa always carried a rifle when checking his cows. They even taught us kids. Sort of. I kept missing the target. Dad finally emptied the rifle, told me to sight but do not touch the trigger, while he stood in front. I'm a lefty! Never shot an animal though.
