Everyone salty about this. It's either natural prey or your fluffy puppers and kitties. Deer have to be thinned out. We have issues with CWD and car wrecks yearly from overpopulated deer. Coyotes are an important part of the ecosystem. Wolves used to be til humans messed that up. We simply don't have enough hunters to do the job these days and the coyote needs to eat just like everything else. It's just nature.

When wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone Park, the whole ecosystem benefited. As the large ungulate population decreased due to wolf predation, saplings were able to grow, as the deer and elk weren't eating them. A lot of songbirds came back, as the saplings grew, and nested in the new trees. Raptors came back, feeding on the smaller birds that had returned, and on the mice and rabbits that sheltered in the new tree growth areas. Beaver populations increased, as they had more wood to make into dams and lodges. Because beavers created ponds, certain types of fish returned. Elk and deer herds, with the old and sick kept in check by wolves, grew healthier. Yellowstone returned to the way it was supposed to be, with a greater diversity of animals and plants, as it was 200 years ago.

In the Adirondacks we have Eastern coyotes- a combo of coyote and wolf. The larger ones can get up to 60 lbs and larger. That;s why they look so large!

That was a coywolf. We have them in Upstate New York. A coyote gets the deer to run and attacks from behind, not a full-fledged attack from the front like this one. I was a forester and often came upon coyote kills. The usual attack started by three or four coyotes approaching a herd from downhill; they drove the deer up hill; first dear to turn and go downhill they would converge on and attack the rear quarters until they brought the deer down. A coyote weighs between 25-40lbs, a coywolf 55-70lbs with strong hind quarters and shoulders, like the first one in the video.

Upstate NY-in the Adirondacks? I ask, because we in Western NY always get called Upstate NY. And we hate it! We are WESTERN NY!!! So far, I think we have the smaller coyotes here, although hunters have taken the odd 55 pounder. I don't know if the DEC is taking DNA samples from any coyote kills-if not, maybe they should, to track the coywolves spread. I do know some people who have had their unspayed dogs come home, pregnant by a coyote. Years ago, I knew some people in Newfane, who had a coydog. They owned a Mom and Pop kind of bar restaurant, and let the coydog walk about the place during the day. I don't know what breed(s) the dog half was. He was neutered, so I don't know if that played any part in his behavior, which was always very calm. It was the size of a big German Shepherd, not very gregarious around people, as most dogs are, although it was very social with other dogs. It did tend to be the dominant dog, but did a lot of bluffing, rather than fighting other dogs. A short growl was as nasty as I ever saw it get around other dogs. It didn't warm up to many people, but its owners. For some reason, it always came right up to me, and would sit by me and I'd pet him a lot. He loved to have his ears and the side of his face scratched, I remember! I never saw him get nasty towards anyone, although people have told me, these are not exactly good family dogs. They can get very territorial, and aggressive if they think someone is moving in on their turf, so aren't really to be trusted-or so I have been told. So, I don't know if these people who owned the bar, were taking a chance by letting the coydog in the bar. Mostly, he'd sit by the owners, or me, and just look around. I hope he wasn't looking for anyone who seemed to be acting if they owned the bar!

@@karenbaker9255 I was in the Catskills, thus the 'Upstate', to differentiate from NYC. There is a LITTLE bit of tension between us and 'them', LOL. I found a coydog in a loggers shed many years ago. It was a puppy, abandoned in the winter by its parents. Not uncommon for coydogs, unlike coyotes who only breed one time of the year, crosses can breed anytime, like dogs. The trouble with that is the pups may not come at the right time of the year to survive. I took her home where she hid under the wood cook stove, She would only come out for me. In the spring I took her outside off a leash. She walked up the trail to the woods, came back and curled up by my feet for one last belly scratch, then she slipped away and I never saw her again. I had a wolf/dog cross also. Both were not dogs, they had wild in them and I would not recommend anyone getting a cross of any kind without being fully informed of what it entails. About forty years ago I was hunting. I saw movement and along came the first coywolf I had ever seen. It was beautiful! A perfect saddle, big chest, strong flank with a shorter appearing snout, broad skull, not the long, thin snout, small skull coyotes I had seen up to that point. I estimate he weighed seventy plus pounds. He walked with a confidence I had never seen in a coyote, they always seem 'nervous' to me. From then on we saw fewer coyotes, but rarely saw the coywolf. They never were any trouble, choosing to stay away from anything connected to humans, unlike coyotes who often came around areas people were in. There were plenty of deer, so they would not of had to search for food somewhere else.

Is that a fisher that comes in around 1:20, and at the end? I saw one in Cold Springs Cemetery in Lockport, NY, a few years ago. This cemetery is about a quarter mile, if that, from the Erie Canal, and a small pond. It was on the ground. It saw me, I saw it, and we both froze. I'd heard fishers were rare around here, and looked like an oversized otter. We looked at each other for a long moment, then it clawed its way up a large maple. I looked to see if it had a den up there, but couldn't see anything. Since then, I've heard it is seen either in the cemetery or nearby, from time to time.

No those are obviously coyotes. Healthy ones can easily get 40 pounds, plus their winter coats make them look bigger. And thats looks to be an adult deer. And the ADKs is in New England

He should be a dead coyote, wolf or coywolf!! They are a big problem on the deer population as well as the rabbit population!!! And not only are they are a menace to the wild game population, they are a menace to family members pet's and don't think for one second a coyote wouldn't target humans especially little kids!! If they are hungry enough and the only thing that is around is a kid or grown ups, you better not let your guard down or turn your back cause they will try you!! These guys are survivalist and will do whatever it takes to feed themselves or their pack!!!

@@mckflurry In some places coyotes are an invasive species and need to be killed every time a hunter has the chance to take one down. They are an intelligent, adaptable and generally impressive creature, but they don't belong in some places and need to be killed.

At 10:17AM on 3/13/21 they have the deer on the ground not dead yet. At 10:25AM on 3/13/21 there is no deer. Eight minutes later they would have been consuming it and blood would be everywhere in the white snow yet there is nothing. Doesn't look like they killed anything.
