Have you thought about doing the "bams" in a paynes grey or just a lighter grey for the marbling? I think that could help soften the effect when you use more earthy tones. Love your guys' work and personalities!

⏸️ I LOVE Cathleen, she's so open and willing to chat a bit. Reminds me a lot of you two actually. Much to my everlasting irritation, my studio is a "bra by necessity" zone. 🙄😂 I was looking forward to the sneak peek, and y'all tricked me! That was supposed to be yesterday, guys 😉 ▶️ ⏸️ Ah, there's Cathleen. 😘 Jeremy, I LOVE the marble effect that you got! It's just so soothing and the earth tones within it are very grounding. I could see this fitting in perfectly in my master bathroom. In fact, I'm going to add this to my list that I have been developing and keeping beside my bed, but use more gray tones with highlights of brown instead of brown tones with highlights of black. Like Lee, I love the piece, but I'm not a huge fan of the black bams. I think that if you had used the bronze or even the espresso instead of the black it would have worked out better with their current size and shape. Or smaller bams for using the black. But overall A+! ▶️ ⏸️ Check out that studio hubby, gettin them edges! ▶️ ⏸️ Lee, I love how your swipe turned out! The colors look so rich together, especially the black and gold. And the cells and lacing... *faints dramatically* Personally, I have not had a lot of success with swipes, but the way that you have done them here (and by extension Cathleen) seems more approachable for me. I can't wait to see the dried results of both paintings, especially once yours is displayed vertically. ▶️ ⏹️ Lee, first off, I wanna applaud you for examining your piece with a critical eye, addressing what you'd do differently technique-wise, but also just the mechanics of it. I wish more artists have us that part of their thought process. Mina's pretty good about that though. I love how your painting did, and even the dimension that was added, perhaps unintentionally, when you did those final smoothing swipes through the gold, shifting the mica and leaving those bars in the gold. I honestly felt like it was a subtle lead-in for the main swipes. Jeremy, your painting dried beautifully, and the bams blended in pretty well. I'm definitely going to try this technique. I have a cradle board that I think would do well with this with resin on it. Gentlemen, if I were wearing a hat, I'd tip it to both of you. And now, enough waffling and over to COZ Creations. 😘

I "talk" to the artists while I'm watching, but with y'all, I feel comfortable enough to actually hold that conversation. As a writer and painter, I've always appreciated critiques from others.
