The 'brains' of the toy is actually contained within your tablet app , that's why it has to be connected all the time. You could always run the app on a 'spare' phone nearby whilst you're working and he'll move around on his own.

I've got a spare tablet that just lies around, I'm still waiting for Cozmo to arrive, but he's definitely getting his own tablet to keep him active. I think Cozmo is going to be a game changer in robotic entertainment, lowering the price will help a lot.

That does look like a lot of fun. :D BTW, when he kept falling off your work table, I was shouting at the screen.. "MOVE THAT CUBE" Haha. That cube was the problem there. It had to be moved so that he wouldn't keep trying to finish what he had started with the cube. Reset the cube in other words. If the cubes stay fairly central, I don't see him falling off very much at all because he was actually quite good at realising where he was. (I just called it "him" haha) Thank you for reviewing it for so long. Enjoyed that.

Power cube batts are independent of the charge unit, so you can either get disposables or rechargeable's. I presume via blue tooth.

Thanks for the useful reviews, the lateral edging glitch worths.. $139 as it`s oled is quite fragile. The inopinnate shutdowns come probably from the sudden draw of current from an undersized battery (it needs to allow more current at once, a bigger battery AND another battery controller). And a note from a parent: I know the bloody thing is expensive, but believe me, you AND your boy would benefit more if you would actually let HIM play and discover, they are amazingly good at figuring out technology these days, even at 2 or 3 they can choose vids and apps on the tablet. I was amused seeing how Ruby just enjoyed the yougurt and mustache-smiling you as you seemed to enjoy more playing by yourself :)) If it support interraction while charging, it would be so easy to add another battery. Please find out if reinstalling the app/clearing the cache would loose the things/abilities that it learnt. Thank you!

Yeah these lot play with it all the time on their own...in fact only last night I heard 'THUD' as one of the blocks fell onto the floor and one of them running to grab Cozmo before he reversed off the table (Would benifit from a rear detector as well!). Its been sat on the shelf for months, but recently they have really improved the app and its performance, does loads more stuff now! Great to see they are proactively developing it :)
