I live in the woods and have three cats that have a cat door. The cats have a tendency to bring home “friends”. This fall it was a mother raccoon with four babies. After extensive battling we got rid of them. Late this fall, momma came back. She was very respectful and only ate the leftover cat food from each day. I got some rabies baits from fish and game and made sure she got some of them. Now she is known as Friend and drops in about once a week or so. She never touches anything other than the cat food. I’m just waiting to wake up some mornings to her in the bed with me and the cats.

I've lived in a forest for 30 years and have had all sorts if wildlife come in. Raccoons, opossums, squirrels, a snake or two, you name it. Never harmed any of them and just live in their environment with them. It's fun, except cleaning up after them. You can stop mice coming in by doing exclusion work. Pipes under the sink, etc., stuff steel wool around the pipes and cover with duct tape. Mice won't chew through steel wool. Basically, anything dime sized or larger need steel wool and tape. Believe me, after emptying capture traps every day, it works.

Heck, I live in a condo in the burbs and even we have field mice issues from time to time. Such great advice to stop them. I learned the same as a young adult and it really works. I know you SAW the squirrel, but if that tote box had been locked closed no squirrel could have opened it. I had similar happen at my house one winter, but the culprit turned out to be a raccoon. They are VERY intelligent, and if a squirrel could get in a raccoon could also. That entry opening has got to be there somewhere, and needs to be sealed or the havoc will be much greater.

Happy Thanksgiving! Can I just say, I've been a subscriber for a couple of years now. Since before you bought the cabin. As an older guy I just wanted to say, you're a really impressive young lady! I did see one thing that concerned me. I realize you were cold and in a hurry but, please, square-up when chopping wood. Your arc should never be in line with either of your legs. That way, if you miss( not likely in your case) or the head shanks-off on a knot, you don't hit your leg. With you most often being alone, I'd hate for an accident to happen. Love that you're getting your pilot license!❤

While you flew to NY a guest flew in to your air BNB lol. Squirrels learn by doing, and observing. They don't like strange squirrels around and enjoy their own spaces. They live wrestling, play, observing and imitating. Squirrels communicate well and are good planners. They remind us to socialize and that work and play go hand in hand to create balance and a fruitful life.

Watching this in the dark, in Tahuya, WA. Haven't had power for 4 wks because we can't afford the electrical fix needed on a line that went bad underground. First time home owners of one year... didnt know insurance "doesn't cover ground wires". Anyhoo, who can afford $10K for excavation and a 71 foot wire? So, been livin like the 1800's now for AWHILE. At least we have a woodstove. Sighhh.

I wonder if theres a way to get power temporarily thats not exactly code but much cheaper and safe. Id just run conduit above ground and buy the wire myself. Unless the power company took your meter and won’t give it back until you get repairs done by code and everything.

Rent a treasure from the hardware store and do it yourself. Buy the wire. $10000 for 71 foot trenches.A rip off somebody's got a drug problem. By the way you can rent the trencher yourself for probably four hundred bucks.

My First look at your channel. Nice video. I'm sure you get plenty of input and probably will not read this, but just in case. The flying squirrel can turn into a big problem. Start outside and seal up all your soffet around the roof line. Tighten up boards , caulk , wire mess, steel wool. That's where they get in. They will quickly foul up all the insulation in the walls with pee and poop and build nests. Best to seal it up outside first. Then move inside. Any smelly spots remove the insulation. Pick up a 6lb. Splitting mall and let it do all the work. You can get heat in the house quick by your oven also. On bake with the door open for 15 to 20 min. I'll have to watch a few more videos !

We live trapped them for a few weeks and drove them 20 miles away to release them. Hipefully they all found one another. Then when the contractor came to put up new siding they had a decice that allowed the squirrels to get out, but not return. Get some live traps and find their way in. Good luck!
