Gorgeous! I am working with one bin of decorations - almost all sentimental. I am now moving everything into one spot to avoid it being disjointed - great tip! You've also made me realize I can choose a new color scheme, donating the objects I don't love, and thrifting in a color scheme I love. Thank you ❤

I decorated my home in a traditional yet maximalist style with greens and reds being the main colours and it's actually like that year-round! Feels appropriate for the Holiday Season even if I don't put up much extra decoration. I live with red furniture, red rugs and red/pink/green stripes and florals. Dorothy Draper was my inspiration. I wish I was a neutral girl because it's so calming but it's like I'm pulled by a magnet towards colour and pattern.

@@lb7661 Hi L B!! I’m glad you mentioned Dorothy Draper - now I can really imagine what your home looks like! 😁 It really sounds amazing. I just saw a home in the Country Living Christmas edition done in royal blue and Kelly green (along with bright red)- so bright and festive. It made me want to ditch all my neutrals! 🤣

Well, Teresa, I'm so happy to see that, unknowingly, I've practiced most of your suggestions. I have a very clear idea of what I want as far as Christmas decorations go. Now reg decor, I struggle with. Lol. I've been decorating the same way for the last 15+ years. I actually don't see much that I like or that im willing to store while out shopping, so that helps keep the number of items down. A few years ago, I decided to decrease my decor to just two tubs. (Actually, with all seasonal deco.) I really love what I have left. Although there were a few items I regret donating that I didn't realize I would miss so terribly, but overall, it's nice to just have the two Large tubs rather than seven or eight Med tubs to store. Having said that, at the moment, I am making a fake mantle out of cardboard! 😂. So far, I'm very pleased with it's progress and most likely, if it turns out well enough, I'll leave it out as permanent deco. And if it doesn't, it's cardboard! I can simply throw it in the recycle! By the way, this was another video that I really enjoyed.

Can you repurpose your grandmother's decorations to use them in a different way? Could they attach to a garland or a wreath or maybe be turned into a Christmas mobile? Alternatively, it looks as though they reflect the light well, so perhaps putting them in a large clear glass jar or bowl on a windowsill to catch the light. I recently saw an idea where you get two glass jars, one larger and one smaller - put the smaller jar inside the large one and fill the space in between with decorative material and then use the smaller jar in the middle either as a candleholder or a vase.

Janell here, we just finished putting up the Christmas decorations through our our house. Shiny Brite vintage on 2 trees and Hallmark houses and bottle brush trees on window sills. Also the collection of nativity sets. Decluttering was difficult but a few things went out. Gave my neighbor 8 spode water goblets and that's less to pack up in January 😂. Oh noooo, I was crushed when the video ended (no pressure, really, Teresa 😅). At the beginning of the video you said a very important point, “decide what theme you want before decorating.” I always pulled stuff out, looked at everything, got overwhelmed, frustrated and then did poorly at decorating - the theme wasn’t decided. 😢

Have you tried picking out your top 10 favourite decorations and seeing if they have anything in common, whether colour, material or style? My favourite decorations are a real mishmash of items inherited or purchased to remind me of special places/events and they are all sentimental, but when I look at them together, I realise they all have a fairly natural vibe - glass, wood, tin, pottery - and they go really well together.
