When I was in grad school, renting the upstairs apartment in a home, the domestic sounds of a neighboring residence filled my heart for the longing for a family. The clinking of dishes, violin practice, and "It's a Girl!" sign in the front yard brought me to tears. What a blessing it has been to be married for 25 years and have five children of my own, all who play an instrument - and help with dishes!

I also am an introvert and I completely agree with Thoreau. I need time alone to recharge even after enjoyable events. When I was a child I was labeled as 'shy' and felt bad about it. As an adult I understand that I've always been an introvert and I embrace it. Thank you for another lovely video, Jennifer. Praying that God is comforting you and your family.

I, too, am an introvert and, at age 62, have learned to accept and embrace that part of myself. I don’t have social anxiety per se, but being around people in a social setting for longer than 2 hours starts to stress me out. I need my alone time to recharge my battery and I’m okay with that.

I have you and your loved ones in my prayers, Jennifer. You are not alone. Unfortunately hard times are part of living here on earth, but I hope you find some comfort in the community that you have made here, and, of course, in Our Father in Heaven. I think that Thoreau’s words really resonate with me. I think that’s why I feel so overwhelmed when my children are on top of me all day. I love to have moments with myself and God. I don’t have that enough right now that my children are small. But it’s nice to know that it’s not ungratefulness. I love my children and my husband. I don’t take any of it for granted, but I get overwhelmed. Anyways, much love Jennifer. Thank you for the video ❤ Also, I forgot to comment on your recent video of your morning routine that I follow The Bible Recap reading plan. It’s a “read the Bible in a year” reading plan. You download the plan from the YouVersion Bible app and then on KZbin or podcast you listen to the commentary of what you just read. It has changed my life. I hope you try it ❤

I really like the atmosphere, the world you create in your videos! You have a distinctive style, and I love it! What a good idea to be present to the familiar sounds of homemaking, and trying to enjoy them. I will try it today and see how my attitude can change in order to avoid falling in the negative homemaking traps you talked about in your last video! 😊 I too am an introvert, and I can relate to Thoreau’s quote. I do appreciate and deeply love my friends and family members, but solitude, I must say, is my best friend! Thank you so much for your kind words at the end of the video! You remain in my prayers! Hoping you are feeling better, little by little. Grief is really a process, as you already know! May God’s love accompany you and give you strength! 🙏💕🌸

Sounds which I decided to listen to kindly as opposed to my usual habit of finding them jarring-drilling, and traffic, and such. An effort to change my mindset as they are inevitable as I’m a city dweller. Later on I ordered a copy of Walden which I found on an instagram image on Feldman’s Bookstore feed! Synchronicity?

Hope you are getting all the rest and support you need during these difficult times.

I recently have been reading about dishwashers and the detergents they use and it was recommended that you scrape the dishes and then put them in the dishwasher. Dishwasher detergents have enzymes that are designed to break down the food particles on the dishes. If you pre rinse your dishes it doesn’t give the enzymes anything to do and that can result in etching on glassware. I can understand wanting to get the major particles of food off of your dishes so you aren’t cleaning the dishwasher filter all the time but, yes, rinsing your dishes clean and then putting them in your dishwasher seems like double work.

I've thought deeply about this supposed introvert - extrovert divide and it came to me rather suddenly that there's more to this than just personality traits. It's about how we prefer to regulate our nervous system and what brings us back to our ventral state of regulation. For some, it could mean co-regulating with other people, and those people are labeled extroverts. For others, it could mean regulating by themselves, with nature, or with materials like books and music, rather than human company. Those people tend to be labeled introverts. Then there's our different attachment styles to consider. We are really complex creatures, and there's no one "good" or "bad" way to be, although as an extrovert, I have frequently felt like friendship with an introverted person is like pulling teeth. 😝
@RosieJ7223 Жыл бұрын
Very good points, I enjoyed your comment. I always feel like I’m bulldozing introverts, so they make me nervous 😂 But I’ve learned that I do need to “tone it down” a little to give others a chance to “tone it up.” It’s hard when two people are on different “wavelengths” about the length of pauses in conversation, right? I also wonder how much people change over time. I’m definitely an extrovert, but I need MUCH more alone time now at 37 than I ever did before. I feel like I have an “inner introvert” now and I never felt like that in my 20s. Humans are curious creatures 😁
@orangejammies6679 Жыл бұрын
I hear you! I frequently feel I have to tone it down too. 😁 Now I just "am", and if the vibe works, that's great, if it sends them running for cover, so be it. 🤷🏻♀️ I'm not everyone's cup of tea and that's okay!

At 3:00 I absolutely cannot tolerate video “shorts” that accentuate sounds, in partcular recipes with just cutting, chopping, water running, sizzling, boiling. Natural sounds are nice. But I will turn off the sound or just turn off my phone when a videographer chooses that method. It grates on my psyche. So I won’t be watching any more of this video.
