oddly enough, winter is my favorite time for a refresh in my house. I suppose because right after Christmas, we take all of the decor down and always do a deep clean and the house feels more empty before putting regular decor back. Its as if I am starting from a clean slate. I usually find a new home for things, redecorate with what I currently have and find a few new things. I love this time of year!

Hi, Jennifer - Today I ordered custom stationery for my dearest friend, a continuation of a writing instrument gift (ball point pen and fountain pen). Writing stationery was once so ubiquitous, but apparently not so anymore. I finally located a lovely set of papers, heavy weight to stand up to the fountain pen, and with printed return address. I fantasize of the times when ladies sat at their secretary desk and answered their correspondence in the morning. We both share in that cultural memory. I'm SO excited and can't wait to hear that she's received this "old fashioned" gift.

I think the new neutral pillows have a much more calming effect on the space. I love the cherry blossom shower gel. It smells divine. I also love the almond shower oil.

I laughed so hard when you unveiled your stamps. I recently sent my 10 yo son to buy me some stamps at the post office and encouraged him to pick out the ones he likes. He brought those home!! I was like where am I going to put these?? All my Christian friends are going to look in askance at me! 🤣 and some of them are really scary! I did use a few on xmas cards for those who I thought would get a kick out of them. They really are something. Maybe not my taste but I like that you surprise. :)

I am struggling as my health declines, just a natural part of aging, but I want to keep fighting the good fight. To keep my little house tidy, keep our simple meals interesting, dress nicely (even if it is just my favorite jeans), do something creative everyday (my music, journaling, jigsaw puzzle…). Last night I finished reading Alexandra Stoddard's Gift of a Letter, a beautiful little book published in 1990 which celebrates every facet of letter writing. Today I was surprised and pleased to see your video about how much you like writing and sending mail. I do, too! From the choice of pens, inks, stationery, and stamps to the importance of clear and honest communication with friends and acquaintances, letter-writing is an art which fortunately lives on.

Am I the only one doing double takes at the dungeons and dragons stamps?? I kept thinking she was going to crack a joke or say they were for her son. No hate on D&D - they ARE cool as my daughter chimed in - but they just seem so opposite from the aesthetic of this channel 😆 so funny and unexpected! Anyway, happy letter-writing 📨 My daughter and I just wrote a small stack today and it's fun having a collection of stamps to pick from. Maybe I will have to buy a few D&D sheets now for my dragon-and-pokemon-loving daughter 😜
