What did you do with your animals before you left. I'm trying to hang in there through the winter with the animals...
@raisingwildflowersАй бұрын
@@573-f5s The dogs and cats came with us. The horses and chickens are on the property. We are close enough to go care for them everyday, but also have it set up so they could technically be good for a week+ if something crazy happened (thinking massive snow storm or something lol). We are also friends with a few neighbors around our property - so we a few backups in an emergency.

Get kids to wash also and u stand here to supervise n rinse In a few mos they can be washing up breakfast things all alone! Or all the lunch things. Do every meals dishes right away. Rinse as soon as meal is over. Once kitchen is cleaned up start dishes or have the kid start them as u wipe counters etc Have another kid sweep… Ur kids HAVE TO work. U can not do it alone!

We are a homeschooling family of 5 with 1 out of the house, I cook from scratch and wash dishes by hand. I had a tiny dish washer and HATED with a passion emptying it! More than doing dishes! When it broke I was super sad,but we have a well and I would rather have a washing machine, bc I've gone without that and it's no joke washing cloth diapers by hand lol! I finally started to enjoy washing dishes when I think about how I am grateful to have all these dishes bc it means the people are still at home and we have money for food! I also play music or a book on tape, I only listen to when I am doing dishes or kitchen things, so I find I am more interested in doing them to see how my book turns out! Little mental tricks and stacking chores together. There are some days where I stick my tongue out at last night's dishes, but the audio book helps. Thanks for sharing Falcon,what a joy to hear you both singing together.

Add baking soda or baking powder to recipes that help baked goods rise. Baking soda is best for recipes that contain lemon juice, coconut powder, or buttermilk. Use baking powder in recipes that don’t contain or have very little acid-like ingredients 😊 love your videos!
@patrice19662 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your recipes, they all look delicious! As an experienced baker, I think the reason the muffins didn’t rise was because you didn’t add any leavening agent like baking powder to your recipe. Plus you used the peels in your apple purée which made that heavier vs using plain applesauce. The egg basically acted as a binder. Because the apple purée was so thick, the egg could not help lighten the batter like eggs do in baked goods. You could try separating the egg and whipping the white to help lighten the batter but adding baking powder will definitely help with the density of the muffins. Just mix the yolk into the wet ingredients, then mix that into the dry ingredients. Lastly fold the whipped egg white into the mixture. Another thought was the mixture was too wet/dense, you might need to cut back on the amount of apple purée or you could add more flour and another egg to lighten up the batter. If you do add another egg, separate it along with the first egg. That will give you more whipped egg whites to lighten the muffin’s texture.

@@raisingwildflowers you’re welcome, hopefully the tips can improve the texture of your next batch of muffins. Another option would be to reduce the apple purée amount, add the baking powder and an additional egg along with a bit more flour. You can try just mixing both eggs directly into your batter without separating them and whipping the whites. That should yield a lighter, fluffier texture. Good luck with tweaking your recipe!

Awesome that they sent you the composter. I took the frugal route and used large trash cans and my husband drilled holes for a bit of air and drainage if necessary. So far so good, I have 2- one that’s for ready to use and one that’s currently cooking

We had a 3 room off grid cabin with an outhouse & outdoor shower with our family of 6' plus a cat & a dog. We appreciated the amenities very much. But we eventually got back at it again too. Don't let anyone discourage you. Keep pushing forward. Shalom ' From Samantha in Missouri

Apple pulp muffins did not rise due to using all purpose flour. I think the recipe called for self rising (not all recipes are clear) since i did not see baking powder in the ingredient list. Baking powder can be made with baking soda and cream of tar tar.

i have bought a big bucket to soak my clothes in before putting them on a mini wash in the washing machine it dose the trick when they only need a quick 20 minute wash instead of 2 or 3 hours.saves me about $20 a month. just soak the clothes in cold water and a cup of washing powder for 3 or 4 days then wash on a cool quick wash.

Did you put leavening agent in the muffins? I might have missed it? That cider and applesauce looked bomb! Did you know you can make your own apple cider vinegar out of apple peels and cores? You can also wash your strawberry tops and put them in vinegar for a couple of weeks and it makes a lovely strawberry vinegar to use on salads. I always wash bake and blend my cooled egg shells and put them in the garden beds. I’ve been running a zero waste kitchen for years. Love that you have a cute kitchen to work out of ❤

Sprout those apple seeds. You won't get the same apple as before and it could take seven to fourteen years to produce fruit but, it is a fun learning experience. Johnny Appleseed is kind of a big deal here in Ohio. If you look into heritage apples and how apples have been genetically modified since their origin in Kazakhstan is really interesting. Don't plant your sprouted seedlings outside until the trunk is at least the diameter of a pencil. Protect from deer.
