Megan, this video put me into mind of my SAHM days a long time ago. We lived very simply. There were many weeks when our checking account balance was under $10 once the bills were paid. We had what we needed, but rarely anything extra. There was no thought to seasonal decorative items other than things we had received as gifts or made ourselves. And we were content for the most part. One Christmas season we went to a store after Christmas and purchased two cardboard decorations - one is a wreath, one is a tree - on clearance sale for a total of 24 cents - wow! Even now after 50 years I still put them up every Christmas as a reminder of God's faithfulness and blessing.

Megan, i’m growing to love your channel more and more! i don’t think you realize how much you really have changed since Fletcher’s seizures, and how much “depth and gratitude” you seek to express. We glimpse the ups and downs, but we also witness your heart posture! Also, i’ve been helping pick pumpkins this year, and auction pumpkins should be fresh. We pick Mondays and Wednesdays, probably for another 2 weeks. “The LORD bless you, and keep you, Megan: The LORD makes his face shine upon you as you seek His face. He is gracious to you, Megan: The LORD lift up his countenance upon you and as His eyes meet your eyes, full of absolute love and compassion for Megan He gives her perfect peace. And they shall put God’s glorious name upon the people and children of Josh and Megan, (and her channel); and God will bless them.” Amen.

Farmers stagger the planting of many kinds of crops so it seems reasonable that this could be done with pumpkins too. That enables them to have a constant fresh supply at produce stands. Please let us know if your pumpkins and gourds stayed good for as long as you hoped! 🍁

What a lovely video. You make everything look so warm and inviting. The country side looks very much like parts of England UK, but everything is on a much larger scale in your country and perhaps not quite as quaint, but beautiful nevertheless. Hello! My husband and I own a pumpkin farm. Pumpkins can last many months and won’t “rot” unless they get too hot or too cold (frozen), or if they have holes in them (I.e. you carve them). You can tell if a pumpkin is rotten if any part of the outside is soft, oozing from the bottom or top, or if it’s extra light compared to pumpkins of the same variety. As for when they are picked, once they are the right color, they can sit out in a field for a full month before being picked, and even if they’ve been cut from the vine, they still won’t “rot” for many weeks.

If you wrap the mum pots in foil or plastic, or put them inside a second pot that doesn't have lots of drain holes in it, you won't have to water them every day. After the mums finishing blooming, you can plant them in the ground to bloom next Fall. (I hate seeing people just toss the pots in the garbage after they're finished with the Fall decorations.)

Regarding pumpkins, it depends on how long your growing season is. If it's not frosty where you are yet, then it's best to leave pumpkins on the vine vs picking. So they likely only pick a little at a time so the remainder can be preserved on the vine. On a smaller farm, this approach is more economical and more feasible. On a very large scale operation, they're more likely to harvest all at once because that's usually more efficient when you have a huge farm. Where I live, it often frosts in early September, before pumpkins area even fully ripe. So, if you can't protect them from frost, you do pick them all at once, them move them indoors to fully ripen.

Don't use vegetable oil or canola. I have used butter (add an extra T per 1/2 c. of oil), also Avacado works great. Worth the price. Butter, Grapeseed oil, Avocado oil, even Olive oil would work. Applesauce is a great substitute if you’re looking to make it more healthy.
