I’m Egyptian and when I visited NY, I went to The Lit Bar for exactly those same reasons - wanting to support an Afro-Latina owned bookstore. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience. My card was declined (which happens sometimes with international cards for many reasons) so I asked to pay in cash and took out a $100 bill. The person at the counter refused to take my money for fear “it’s fake” without even checking and she treated me like a thief. Had my man not been with me and offered to pay instead, I would’ve walked out without the books.

Title didn’t lie, its a rlly cozy video ☕️ I’ve never seen these cute mystery books where I live, so I’d love to do some on my own and gift them to close book lover friends. Also I love when you start tapping your nails against hard surfaces XDD And that Palestine book! Depressing but a really good read, especially with what’s been going on 💔 I never read cobalt red, but judging from the title I’m assuming its about the many humanitarian crises the Congolese have been through as well, even to this day. If so, then I rlly appreciate you reading on those heartbreaking topics. I’ll be sure to read that book sometime in the future too. More people need to learn about the crimes committed against them, and they all deserve justice 💔 Love from Lebanon ❤

I highly recommend Terminal World and for a different vibe, Century Rain, a novel about the discovery of a hidden world that stopped in the 1950s. Noone in that world realizes they are living in a simulation, it also involves a detective story, a time traveler just so so good. Happy reading.

instead of goodreads use storygraph!! the reviews are so much more accurate because u can give scores such as 3.5 and 3.75 instead of just 1,2,3,4,5. you can do a tick list of if you thought the book was diverse, fast slow or medium paced and the app keeps track of the genres you read and he percentage of those genres in each book! highly recommend

The book collector thing made me think of this post I saw on Instagram that said are you a bookworm or a book dragon. Bookworms consume books. Almost every book they own they've read and most likely love so they don't own that many. Book dragons collect books. They may have read some of them, but their shelves are packed with dozens of books that they haven't read. I guess that makes you a book dragon which I think sounds really cool. I'm a book worm. I can't bring myself to buy a book if I know I potentially won't like it, so I check it out in a library first and then if I love it I will go buy it. I currently have 3 library cards. I'm thinking about a 4th but I haven't had a chance to visit that library yet.
