Something that my Pastor said during our pre marital conseling I will never forget and have referred to many times in our 38 year marriage...Marriage isn't 50/50. Sometimes you can't give 50 and the other person needs to pick up on it and do more. So true.

I became disabled march 23 2011. Thru my daughter going to vacation bible school a Mennonite church took us and helped. My daughter and I found Jesus got baptized together. With me going thru so many surgeries they all took my daughter and treated her like part of family. I was a single mom and father was absent but she had some male role models thru church. It’s been a long difficult road but what a blessing to learn about Jesus and be baptized with my daughter. Have a blessed holiday season.

I love that Josh is asking an important question about leadership from the home to leadership of country. How to be leader without hubris or arrogance but with humility. That is a good question for the whole world. I love this video. Being a Mennonite from I’ve seen is such a unique culture and I would be arrogant to tell you what you are doing is wrong. I actually live in Pittsburgh so we are not far apart but I live near the city and I don’t go to church and don’t have a community like you do. I am 69 years old (almost 70) and tell people all the time (especially my 4 grown kids) that my 30's were the best and that I felt like I could move the world. It was like the Lord shored up my strength during that time because three major things happened to me in my 40's which were totally out of my control (my health, one of my children, and my marriage) and my relationship with the Lord as well as that stored up strength with which He blessed me got me through it--just like the Psalm says. He doesn't take those hard times away, but He walks with you through them. You just have to hang on to that truth and live what you believe even in the midst! I love watching your videos and the loving and respectful relationship you have with each other and your children. You two live the values you want your children to learn and that is so important! May God continue to bless you and keep you and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

I think Josh' considerations are the considerations of a leader that takes his responsibility serious. Personally I have learned that most people don't mind getting smarter or getting educated on the subject, but if you want them to listen to your opinion you have to listen to their arguments and reasoning first. Then they will be open to seeing things in a different way. It is amazing how easy it can be to convince people to change a standpoint if you take the time to listen to their reasoning first. Really take the time. Often they have valid points but if they are wrong it is often due to a minor misunderstanding or something they didn't consider. Also don't expect people to tell you when they have changed their viewpoint. Most people won't :-)

I will never forget something I heard in a podcast years ago called affair proofing your marriage and he was talking about this idea of spending money on your marriage like the getaways you were talking about. He said people that are having affairs spend money on each other. Gifts, fancy dinners, hotel stays, etc. We should be willing to spend that on our marriage and I am amazed at how many couples never get away together. It does get hard for people that don't have family around or for us, mom never felt like she could handle things when we had 8 kids. But we found a friend at church who was single and loved our kids like they were her own nieces and nephews and she watched them many times for us. Such a blessing.

My son is 31 and also a Josh so I love your Josh’ s inputs. Leadership really comes from a sacrificial heart- that’s how men lead their families well. So with leadership in churches and governing structures it should also be about what is best for our body of believers or our community or country and what are the leaders willing to sacrifice for the sake of others- unfortunately corruption is in the heart of men without God so there is a brokenness only God can fix. The way we deal with conflict is to reason together. Hash things out without contempt, learn to listen and then if we still disagree- go to the Word and find wisdom from the scriptures. If leaders value their people, they will value their input. We are all learning, all the time. Long ramble just to say you two are so sweet and definitely better together🌺

For example Josh saying " On a bad day, I just need you to be near me and words of affirmation. If you are not the captain, then your only job is to ask “what can I do to support you?” Being in charge is stressful. There are a lot of variables to manage and monitor. I’m the captain of all things “health management” (schedule dentist, health insurance, nutrition) He is the captain of all things “safety”. We lead in areas where we care the most.

I am not Christian but I like to watch your videos and learn more, I am curious about how different people live their lives and how they perceive the world. I just have to say that a prejudice I may have picked up from people that are atheist is that Christians, especially those more extreme Christians (we have the Swedish church here in Sweden that are very open, so in comparison to that you are more extreme) is that they always think that they are right and trying to stuff that down all others throats. So I was so glad and impressed with Josh's thought about leadership and that he several times speaks about how to have loveling meet others with other options and still see them even if you think that they are wrong. Exactly that I do believe in that we need more in the world. So thank you for smashing some prejudices, that is always so refreshing! And I would love to heare more of that thoughts. Merry Christmas!

We have the same thoughts as Josh on leadership, since early 2019 we’ve had very specific issues. One led to a discussion with the person which went HORRIBLY on their part. We find ourselves again in the same situation in a different place since moving. My husband always says “God will reveal the breaking point when it starts to harm others, otherwise we are to stay humble and pray.” When the point arrives we have a conversation, If it goes poorly we bring in witnesses, and then if it stays wrong we leave. I’ll be praying for y’all on that, we’ve got 7 and 8 years of age on y’all and a different vein of Christianity, but leadership is such a sticky place to be in. I know it’s hard, and I don’t envy folks in charge of anything bigger than their own family, that’s hard enough 😅 great video y’all, thanks for sharing ❤️

My dream was to get married young and start a family right away. Ten years later don’t regret it. I view marriage as a adventure you never know what will come. Getting married was thrilling for me my poor husband most women she’s tears at the alter, I laughed hysterically when he stubbled on his one vow line then it was over for him he had to look at them. Thankfully got it together when I was supposed say mine.
