@@matthewmorrone883 when your water comes to boil turn it off and then add the chaga and let it steep for about 25 minutes if you want full dose of the medicine, you would burn off the medicine if you boil it directly. Frankly, I don't care what your logo is or what you call your channel, I just love the channel. My wife and I take similar trips, so as much as I enjoyed the solo stuff(I do that also), we both enjoy having Erin in the videos. We have 20 years on you two, so are slowing down a bit and don't do winter trips, so you guys keep us entertained when we cannot be "out there", especially in the winter. THANK YOU, and keep up the good work!

With the past year and all of the negativity associated with it you have made an incredible contribution to my ability to cope with it. Many thanks!

Having camp set up 100% and knowing you can enjoy several days/nights with little hard work ahead gives you the precious time to just chill with your lips thinking about the thick sirloin you’re having for dinner ❗️ Potato’s grilled on a fire in a cast iron skillet are MY FAVORITE !! From taking safety precautions with the carbon monoxide detector & ensuring the ice was thick enough to walk on, to the new gadgets like the Jackary solar system & the G-Stove, to gourmet snow ice cream & German potatoes. 1st tree wet. Likely not quite dead/drained. Easy fix though. Just turn it all into kindling, & then dry it out by stacking it on an outdoor coal bed - then bring it indoors, (dont dry indoors as moisture will escape into your tent. Yuk). Deadfalls aren't always drained of sap and moisture. No biggy. More than one way to skin a tree. Just a matter of a calm and measured approach. Nice vid. Keep 'em coming.

Another great addition to your adventures! One of the things I appreciate about your videos (and is why I subscribed around 600ish) is because you talk a lot about how being out in nature effects you along with environmental and conservation issues. I get tired of the weather updates and narration of the day to day tasks at camp or tripping. Your videos were/are different! Finally, someone speaking from the heart about what it means to be out in nature! Please don't be offended or upset by this comment. I have thought about not writing it. I feel like this aspect of your adventures is slipping away. I wonder if the pressure of having to publish a video a week (or whatever it is to stay relevant and on top of the KZbin game) is making it harder to express yourself. Your filmmaking skills are the bomb-diggity! You're content is 100% visually. I can see by the b-roll that you still pay attention to the little things that matter and catch your interest when in the wilderness. This is missing from so many other people's videos. B-roll, b-roll, b-roll! I'm super excited for you and your channel. I just miss your humour and thoughts on your experience while adventuring. This video felt very instructional. But it was great, don't get me wrong... but instructional and a lot of narrating of what you're both doing. It's easier to talk to the camera doing that, I know. Anyway, sorry. Just missing that component of some of your more recent work.
@LostLakes
@LostLakes 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Cobi for putting the time and thought into such a supportive and helpful comment! I really appreciate this feedback so I'm glad you did. I found it really interesting. I think I know exactly why. In earlier videos I was transitioning my career and had some big chunks of time off to trip. I think that allows one to get in a different mental space. Since then, tripping while working full time, getting in what you can, typically doesn't allow for enough time to reach that space. When I take a week+ off I feel like I'm thinking that way again, and I think that comes out in trips like "Leave Behind", Quetico, and the 9-day far north solo, but rarely in the weekend overnighters. But this year might allow for a lot more long trips so that may change soon 😉 Thanks again my friend---value your input!

It is definitely true about locally sourced honey being a cure for allergies! My nephew suffered for years with terrible allergies. A few years ago he and his wife became beekeepers as hobby and within a very short time of consuming their honey (a tablespoon every night) he noticed that he wasn’t having the allergic reactions any more. He looked into it and also read the same thing you did about this benefit. Thanks for sharing your story!

The formatting of the videos on the Eyoyo camera is odd so pardon the aspect ratio and glitchy looking edges. The recording quality is low and the camera is extremely difficult to aim (by twisting the wire). However it was a ton of fun to film down there and this is something that I'll work on. FYI, it doesn't record audio...that was added from footage I have of using GoPros underwater.

Even dead wood requires some drying time. Wood is basically a sponge, and holds a certain amount of moisture until it has been cut and stacked. Wood does not dry much in the winter, especially up where you are, because the moisture freezes and stays frozen until the thaw. Sorry if I sound like I'm pontificating, but I have been involved with wood and logging for 45 years. Anyhow, too bad you didn't get any fish.

Nice! The grate works Great!! If I could make a suggestion about the battery and solar panel. The panel generates electricity even in low light, but not as much. But the battery/charge controller won’t work in low temps. If you keep the battery in the tent and the panel outside you might be able to charge in those conditions. Hope this helps!

Had some time to watch another episode and met Erin on this adventure, your very lovely and very able companion! Nice to "meet" you Erin! Made great work of that first tree. She is spot on about local bee's honey as it introduces your system to the pollen around the area which gives your body a DNA "fingerprint" of the antigens in your area and allows you to develop DNA specific antibodies with perfect efficacy to the pollen in your area. Love the equipment you guys use, esp. that stove with fan, grill and features! Eyoyo, underwater cam! That is a game changer and takes out the guess work of "wonder what's going on down there" jiggle bait 300x. That lake and icefall was a magnificent hike! I love making natural snow ice cream. As always, mad respect to your respect to nature always in all ways!

What a beautiful sight - 'water water every where' snow snow glorious snow. Total peace & serenity. So a truly magnificent sight to behold (@8.07 into video. At 11minutes into video - so amazed at the snow covered rock mountain sides just enormous but a mesmerizing sight. The fluffy black n white Woodpeckers are so gorgeous - their colouring so precise in pattern. A great tip to keep a water hole open - so important I think. Gonna sit back & watch you two have fun & share your wonderful surrounds that only Mother Nature will put on display.. thanks 4 sharing & Cheers

Great trip and thanks for sharing ! Yes, you did carry in a lot of electronics 🤣 For solar recharge of you power bank, I believe it would help if you kept the power bank inside the hot tent when charging and run the line to the solar cells, you would get better results. Honey ( natural and unadulterated) is sooooooo good for you 🍯 🐝👍 Loved the little vole who was visiting with you 😊

Thanks Hamish!! Great idea, problem was the tent was in the woods so there was even less sunlight. Otherwise that would be really cool

Awesome video as always guys! I've found that going back to just sleeping under a tarp or in a "cold tent" is somewhat liberating after hot tenting...The amount of time and energy spent processing firewood can be so exhausting (I typically go solo for up to 8 days). It's a real trade-off I find. The hot tent is so nice for those really cold nights but man I find it a ton more work. I also realized after watching this that I need a better saw!

Thanks so much Steve & Andrea!! So true...liberating is a great word for it. Soo much work, especially if you're only out for one night
