Lol I feel so relieved hearing y'all talk about how you don't celebrate the wheel of the year practices. It's just not part of my practice feels too uniform 😂

I agree. It doesn’t line up with the seasons where I live so it doesn’t make much sense to me.

Brasilian here, we technically call the seasons in the eurocentric way but we don't really have 'em. We have the start of the year hot with VERY strong rain (summer), the middle part raining a little and a little less hot (fall), than it gets dry (winter) and then it gets hot again but no rain (spring). Although there are these differences I practice it based on the rain and the temperatures. So I work a lot with sun and water related practices and add flowers when it comes to spring but for the rest is kinda the same. I"m a shamanic pagan and, because I'm multiracial, I have a mix of Iberic, Southern African and Indigenous practices that honour my ancestry.

The almond in outmeal, we have this rice-dessert in Norway were we do the same with the almond. The price is a marzipan pig, or a chocolate santa, or a back of chocolate that can be shared with everyone.

If you want to travel to norway google when shit happens, i remember so many stories where “tourist wanted to see northern lights” and they came in the summer and northern lights can only be seen in Northern Norway in winter and the tourists were so surprised 🤣🙈 Norway has stunning natures, fjords and just everything you see in spring is so vibrant and stunning. So Norway should be seen both in spring/summer and winter for it is a sight to behold❤️🥰

Wow I appreciate this so much. I’m a very spiritually connected person but I feel like I’m struggling with some serious “imposter syndrome” around these celebrations. I celebrate the return of the sun, but don’t consider myself a yule person. Also am not Wiccan or pagan or in any box out there. I always end up frustrated for myself at the end of the season because I don’t know where I fit and feel like I let down the entire realm of witchy spirituality. I never once thought that not celebrating is also okay. 😅

I really enjoyed the wheel of the year discussion…I have always been a huge holiday person and I really fell in love with the wheel of the year…and while I to live in Arizona…I have adapted the the festivals to my location and kept notes on how each one feels. It’s lovely…we definitely don’t have traditional seasons but there are noticeable changes and it has helped me connect to the land in a meaningful way.

I like the Yule vs. Christmas conversation. The thing is that a "wheel of the year" is basically the idea of the circular time. While many people live in a circular time, mostly the agricultural ones, there are numerous people, who just exist in the linear time. In my language language, the name for Christmas does not originate from "Christ". Thus, we don't have the need to "replace" Christmas with Yule, which is something I believe most witches feel obliged to do (maybe because of "Christian hangover"?). The dark period, when the sun is down, is also the reason for traditions like what in English is called a yule log - a large, continuous fire in your home, which is both a blessing and aid for the sun on his/her most hard night.

Interesting interview, i can relate a lot with it. I live in Austria and here lots of people I know are connecting to Celtic and Slavic Paganism, Norse mythology, Occult practics and "Alpine Shamanism", which is actually the root of Austrian paganism and is also connected to Celtic paganism, as far as I am informed. In this tradition people do celebrate the dark winter goddess "Perchta" who goes on a wild hunt during the so-called "Rough Nights" (Rauhnächte). These dark nights begin on the eve of december 25th and last till January 6th,. Though some people argue they do begin on December 21st, on Yule. There is a lot of mixed traditions here as we are in central europe but anyway to me it is still a process of finding out what i wanna celebrate and what i feel most connected with. I grew up with celebrating Christmas and i do still celebrate it with my family but add my own traditions that are inspired by Alpine paganism to it. During the Rough Nights me and my witchy occult friends do journal a lot and we pick one tarot card on each of the 12 nights, where every card represents one month of the following year. Also we do burn a lot of frankincense, myrrh, mistle toe and other herbs and clean our space and declutter. It is also interesting how sometimes in Austria many pagan traditions are still interwoven with christianity, like we have this one day in December where people dress up as the "Krampus" or the "Percht" and it is literally called the "Perchtenjagd" - which is the hunt of goddess Perchta. They do wear masks and costumes. Sadly lots of people totally forgot that this is originally a pagan tradition but this knowledge is coming back and Newspapers start writing about it. So there is a beautiful process of reconnecting with pagan alpine traditions happening which i cherish a lot :)

Miami born and raised and can 1000% confirm that four seasons are a myth here. We have 2.5 seasons at most: wet, wetter, and somewhat dry. If you ladies ever make your way down here just be aware that the air itself tries to drown you, but your skin will remain fabulously hydrated. As for South America, the northern part lies in the tropics so it's somewhat similar to here. South of that they experience four seasons to various degrees. Thank you both for bringing up and discussing the fact that 'four seasons' are neither typical nor traditional across the board. 💜

was having a rough week, I haven't even cleaned or decorated and today is Winter Solstice :( (although, I'm more of a seasons gal vs a sabbots gal, if that makes sense... lol) this was a nice way for me to briefly reconnect with the season I also love the comments about "listening" because tbh I feel like most of my practice, for now, is rooted in "listening" ... probably because I'm talking too much on the daily lol spirits acting differently in different landscapes- made me think about the book "Year of the Witch" a great book! I follow more of a "Celtic" path... I don't work directly with deities, but I do keep them in my heart and mind during practice. My practice is more based in ancestral reverence... Winter feels older to me, like- old-world-magic... I feel more Cailleach energy hovering about my life during this time of the year. I don't really celebrate the sabots either.... my form of celebration is taking time to meditate, may be partake in a guided immram that fits the season's theme, and I roll with it from there lol my pet peeve - modern day Mabon doesn't even honor Mabon... wtfffff (look up Mara Starling if you don't know what I'm talking about...)

Just be sure to monitor any other changes with Bane. I notice my cat does get more vocal when he started getting sick (it was a slow progression of symptoms, then just one day overnight he stopped eating/drinking/pooping) Not always the case but just something to keep any eye on, maybe you can get him a couple of those cat buttons so he communicate better. He may also be anxious if he's not typically a very vocal cat, usually they're trying to tell us something, or it could just be he had to get comfortable with you first to be vocal.

Greetings from Ohio! That was so enjoyable. I loved all the uses of snow you came up with! I have snow where I live right now. Something I do is go to a specific place in my woods and draw sigils for things I want to banish from my life (worries, problems, negative habits). My intention is for the issue to fade away with the snow. The weather changes constantly here, so it's seldom very long before they melt away into the Earth.

Ayyeee!!! Everyone's traveling next year! I'm getting all of my documents together so I can renew my passport. Slight trauma dump, my dad refused to give any of my siblings our social security cards, birth certificates or passports. We could "borrow" them if we needed to use them but he would come and take them back. So this year I'm taking my full identity back, very quietly, and doing whatever I want in the future. I could rail and yell and steal my stuff back, but I feel like it's just easier and more empowering to get my own copies. And honestly this is being helped greatly by my guides and some deities that have showed up during this process.

We didn’t have almonds in porridge but on the German Mennonite/Scandinavian side of my Canadian family, my grandma would wrap coins in waxed paper and hide them in cake batter before baking it. I think other Canadian families have done this too. Some sort of luck was supposed to be involved based on which coin (if any) you got, although my grandma would usually “cheat” and make sure all the kids got one.

Loved the tangent about snow water uses! Ive thought about it alot recently and i think itd also be good for sleeptime teas and things of that nature too. Plus i think you could use it in the same fashion as dirt; take it from a specific place for a specific purpose! Im hoping to gather some snow from a historical spot in my town where we always have an artfair every summer so that i can use it in prosperity workings and such leading up to the date! Love the videos regardless of wether theyre witchy or not; cant wait to see what 2024 looks like though your lens.

Took the survey, wasn't too bad, but had to wing it a little lol. I still need a passport, getting it next month though. Wasn't sure on a budget just yet, waiting on a settlement that has yet to be scheduled, but should be soon. Without that I may not be able to go. I was thinking of traveling with the money and then this pops up 😊. Of course I'm assuming it's ok to back out whenever if something comes up. Like you can't make us go lol. Sry for the long comment, back to bed for me.
