Yes, they're cat head biscuits, or maybe kitten head biscuits, since southern cat heads are about twice as big! My mother shaped them slightly with her hands and cooked them with a little oil in a preheated iron skillet.

A food mill would help remove the seeds and skins from the tomatoes 😊

Thank you! I’ll have to look into one for this summer’s harvest 🤞🤞

The tomato tool, is it a food mill? I also don't have one and just recently FINALLY made it through all my frozen tomatoes as we had a full beef to make room for. I have to tell you that even in the throws of summer tomato harvest when I am attempting to work through processing them as we go, I cut the core out and toss them in a bag and put them in one of my deep freezers. Then I bring in the bags of tomatoes and run them under some warm/hot water and they slip the skins SOOOOO EASILY. (I freeze dry the skins to turn into tomato powder which I use to thicken sauces, etc. Such great flavor.) Then I just toss the naked frozen tomatoes into my giant roaster and leave them be. Once they are thawed out, I ladel out the excess water while trying not to disturb the flesh of the tomatoes too much. If my 22 qt roaster is heaping full, I can usually get several large pitchers of tomato water off. Some people can the water to use when they make soups or rice. I'm not that gung ho, but my chickens sure do love it. This helps so much in getting a nice, thick sauce. Sometimes I hit it with an immersion blender. Sometimes I leave it chunky. This way I don't have to bother with specific "types" of sauce tomatoes. I just grow a bunch of everything and it all goes into the sauce. I just found your channel and am really enjoying it. 😃

I am loving these tips. Thank you so much! Last summer my mother-in-law really got into using her roaster as well. I thought that was such a great idea! I love the tip about simply washing and coring the tomatoes and freezing them! I love anything that saves time!! 😅 my chickens got the scraps as well, I don’t know if I mentioned that in the video. I have never heard of freeze drying the skins, will have to look into that! Thank you again for the tips and for watching! Hope to see you here again soon! ❤️

The name "cathead biscuit" originated in the Mississippi Delta. A cathead biscuit is a large, fluffy biscuit. The ones you made are drop biscuits.

Ooooh I sooooooo enjoyed your video this morning ‼️‼️☕️. I smiled when you got out your frozen tomatoes because I’ve been doing that for years as I have become quite lazy canning but then it’s only my husband and I now. All my babies have flood the nest and have families and babies of their own.💙🤍🩵💜. I’m definitely gonna try without the chicken broth lol your homemade tomato soup. And I as well started making bread white. I’m going to try my hand at wheat, but sourdough bread. Neither one of us care for that as much. Thank you so much for this video again truly enjoyed watching it.

Cathead biscuits are the last biscuit you make with the last of the dough. It's not enough to make two biscuits, so you just make one large, oddly shaped biscuit. I think someone thought it looked like a cat's head 🤣

I love drop biscuits. I hate to make the mess when doing roll out biscuits. Your recipe sounds like the one I use from the red plaid cookbook. My mom got me the better homes and garden cookbook when I moved out on my own. The biscuit page definitely has a few splatters and smudges.

Loved the video, watching all the way from Scotland U.K. When you make sausage is that beef or pork? For us sausage is usually pork. Ground beef we would call it beef Mince. So trying to follow your recipe with our equivalents 😂

I really like the ticket jar. I did that as a first grade teacher and now I have two littles and I think this would work better and more effectively than a chore chart. I like 25 cents per ticket too. Both our kids have give, spend, save jars so I think having this set of jars in the kitchen would really be good and the focus on a post it note for that week or month or what have you. Thank you! Will work good for a 5 and 8 year old😊

No. Cat head biscuits are rolled and cut, not a drop niscuit. And they are really large hence the name cat head biscuit

No cat head biscuits are baked in a round dish, or cast iron pan. Putting the round biscuits in a round pan makes the biscuits a triangle ish shape . That triangle shape is like a cat head shape. Not drop biscuits
