1-7-23 I also like to give old jars a new life. Esp if they have a nice design like the Bonne Mama preserves jars. Their pretty shape and red and white checkered lids are a nice combination. The coffee grinder was an amazing find. Esp in such good shape. It's not only practical, but pretty. Loved the silhouette! What a thoughtful and sweet gift.

I use a product called Dirtbusters Stove Polish on my stove. You light the stove after you’ve used it and the heat sets the polish to form a protective coating. No smoking or unpleasant smell. But I live in the UK and it is made here so I don’t know if it would be available over there. The glass jars look lovely but I was always taught not to leave things like flour and spices in a bright place as they don’t keep so well. I do reuse lots of jars but I always keep dried foodstuffs somewhere away from light and heat. My Mum’s house has a proper pantry and I wish I had one. At the moment I use my Welsh dresser and a big old pine school cupboard to store most stuff.

I always gave our woodstove a good rubbing of olive oil or coconut oil after the heating season. By waiting til fall, there shouldn’t be any smoking of the oil. Just lovin’ that coffee bean grinder! I like that coffee grinder. I save jars too. When I paint a room I pour the leftover paint into a glass jar. It keeps for years, I just did touch ups in a room from seven years ago. Leaving it in a can takes up space and the can rusts and the paint dries out.

@@cottagetime3336 The paint keeps the longest if it fills the jar without much air space. I keep many of them in the back of the closet in the room it goes to.

I don't know if this has happened to any other gardner, but when I used wood chips that we bought at Lowe's for the pathways, my garden became infested with a tiny black flea beetle that ate holes in all green leaves. It was a nightmare. I could not get rid of them. Eventually, I bought small greenhouses, and I now grow in containers. We put chips around the greenhouses, and only once did I see them. I was able to keep them out, but they were definitely in the chips. Not all bags are infected, but I have had that happen in the past. I use small stones now. Just thought I'd tell you about my experience using chips in garden... Cindy

The coffee grinder is so neat! I’ve never seen a wall mounted one like that. I also really liked your son’s gift, he did a nice job! And the frame you found went perfectly. Very pretty! Thank you! So far I haven't had any food go bad. I've had flour in clear glass canisters for about 4 years. I am watching to see if any go bad since someone mentioned that the other day. Maybe it's that I use them quick enough that it's not an issue.
