A century ago Wednesday, one of the architectural jewels of the British Empire - the Centre Block on Parliament Hill - went up in flames. While the Centre Block was completely gutted, the Library of Parliament was saved thanks to the quick-thinking of employee Michael C. MacCormac, who closed the steel doors separating the Library from the rest of the building. CPAC’s Philippe Murat recently met with his grand-daughter, Mollie MacCormac to learn more about the man that saved the Library of Parliament.
