Editing this game really made me come to appreciate the subtle genius behind BirdHorse. Additionally, this game can serve as proof that trying new tech (and commanders) can push the boundaries of the format. I remember a time where I was told Nezumi Graverobber was a bad idea for a competitive commander, and yet look at the work it put in! Let this serve as a call to all brewers out there: Don't let someone's detractions convince you not to try something new. You may very well have a future staple.

Sweet Dargo on turn 2, but is it possible to sacrifice Lotus Petal for mana and the additional casting cost? love your content

Yep, Dargo counts every creature and artifact sacced that turn. So by sacc'ing the Lotus Petal, you get one mana from the petal and two colorless towards Dargo's casting cost.

I know this video is a year old but you can’t cast Dargo that way. Lotus Petal sacrifices as cost so it either: 1 makes one mana or 2 dargo sacrifices for 2 mana. You cannot get 3 mana from lotus petal this way.

Good ol' Dargo math! It does count (though probably not explained well) because Dargo counts every artifact or creature previously sacrificed. So, the Petal is simply sacrificed to itself for a Red mana and Dargo is reduced by two colorless by the second part of his reduction clause.

You are incorrect but seems a lot of people are confused by this. What was more confusing to me was the statement “lotus petal is usually bad”.🤔🤔🤔 🤷‍♂️

@@NewSchoolPOKERstrat Lotus Petal is usually bad in Pauper Commander - its usefulness rarely eclipses the importance of that card slot. It's quite a different context from cEDH. Some Dargo decks play Petal, but not all. It can be used as a combo piece in Knack/Helix combos. Pauper Commander is a format where the answers are generally better than threats (creature and non-creature threats), and this decreases the usefulness of Lotus Petal dramatically.
