I never thought about painting like this! It's really surprising how you can create interesting shapes by focusing on what's around the object. It gives a cool and somewhat abstract effect, and it's super creative! Thanks for the discovery!

Just to let you know: I have created watercolor paintings based on your tutorials that I have given away to family and friends. They are so appreciative . . . as am I. The crashing wave, the beach scene with grasses, the vase with wine bottle and flowers, the white light house as a greetings card (a thank you note to them for their help with our lawn care) and others, too. I love your work and your teaching style.

I am really not a beginning watercolorist. I have painting in watercolors for a few years now. I really enjoy your tutorials and I always learn something new. I am not very good at two things: negative painting and adding the "finishing touches" that give completion to a piece of work. Your tutorials help with both. Thanks.

I am waiting for my paint layer to dry; thus, I am being wordy here. A tip to watercolorists: you may think that this is strange . . . however, it works for me. I use the lids from condiment jars and jam jars for creating my color mixes and my washes. I can mix up enough paint to cover the areas that I am trying to paint because the wells created by the jars are deep enough to hold just the right amount of water to pigment ratio for what it is that I am trying to accomplish. Right now, on my painting tables, I have a total of 14 jar lids of different color hues ready to be mixed. I also use the flat mixing space on my palette box for certain hues. Each to her or his own style is what I am saying.

I was always told never to use black in watercolour - only Paynes Grey. Maybe teaching is different in US?

Great observation, I personally use it sparingly and try to add other warm and cool colors to it! 👍😎🍀
