Easier way to calculate is When u have true and the required is magnetic and the VAR is West than add the true and the var If the answer is higher than 180 we subtract the answer with 180 if it’s lower we add 180

VDF has a display only for ATC and in cockpit there won’t be any display which shows bearing right?If pilot wants to know QDM should ask ATC ?

To measure the true and magnetic bearings. True bearing is measured from the true north, Magnetic bearing is measured from the Magnetic north.
