Been flying RC planes for 6 years, bixler 2 for 3 years, just replaces my bixler motor with a like one and couldn't figure out what happened to my thrust over the last 2 flights. Goes to show you we all make mistakes -- I had put the prop on backwards and barley had enough thrust to fly into a small breeze with my FPV equipment on board. Cant wait till tomorrow to give it another try. Im confident now with the prop installed "cereal side facing the rear of the plane", I will have plenty of thrust given the stock configuration. Thanks for the vid.

If I look at the motor on the Bixler from the back (with the tail into my face) I was told that motor will spin clockwise direction. You say that it should soon clockwise looking from the from which would mean it is spinning anti-clockwise when looking from the rear. Which is the correct way please?

***** Hi, I have got the 6x4E prop from Hobbykng which seems to be the same as the standrad 6x4 prop that comes with the kit. So I assume it is a pusher prop? Also I have got some grey APC style 6x4 props also from Hoobyking. My motor is set up to spin clockwise direction if I look at it from the tail. I'm hoping that if I fit either of these props with the concave part facing away from the motor and the motor spinning in the direction as I mentioned (clockwise when looking from the rear) that it will work properly. Sorry for all the questions mate. Thanks.

i look at the side of the prop. the flat side of the prop must be facing to the back of the plane. works fine. i have a few 9x6 props here and found out that there is lots off diverence between the thrust they deliver. which is strange i think as they all are 9x6 props.

@kajun56610 жыл бұрын
Great explanation there EVERYTHING cpo ! Would you mind answering this question? Say that you don't have a pusher prop available (CCW?) and only a CW rotating prop. Is there anything wrong with putting the CW prop on (facing the proper way, of course, and the use of a prop saver to eliminate any chance of a nut coming loose) and just reversing the direction of the motor? TIA!

Can you use a ccw prop on a tractor rc plane?
@crude4u19486 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. It helped me a little but that's because I don't understand any of this. My question is related to changing out the prop on my trolling motor. I lot of guys are doing this because the prop of an RC plane is more efficient than the one that it comes with. so my question is this, are props made to spin in different directions. the reason for my question is that several people have had to reverse the wiring on their TM because it spins in the wrong direction based upon the prop they swapped out for. I think it was an APC 12 x 5. So based upon what I saw in your video, if the prop seems to be turning in the wrong direction related to the "spoon" can I just flip the prop around?
@ZezoG-jg1he8 жыл бұрын

Hi! Great vid! it was very helpful for me as a newbie. i have the bixler 2 and faced that problem with the motors rotation unscrewing the prop adapter, so i lost it on the maiden flight. luckilly i manage to land the bixler safely. But here is my question. im thinking of buying a pusher prop. but do i need to replace the motor or can i just switch cables that it'll rotate on the oposite direction? in advance. Thanks!
@EVERYTHINGcpo10 жыл бұрын
The motor is the same, just swap any two wires and it will run the opposite direction. The motors are bi-directional. Even though you didn't ask, I figured I would share this. It really helped me understand how swapping 2 motor wires changes the direction. This is simplified for demonstration. A motor is powered from pulses from the ESC. On a brushless motor, there are three wires that are used to send pulses. It sends them through the wires in order. (This is very simplified, but should give you a good visual.) Lets label the wires A, B, C. If you plug them in, the ESC sends voltage through them in that order...A, then B, then C...the motor will start spinning in a direction. So the pulses will be sent out like this: A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C Over and over again, and the motor goes round and round. Now, lets switch any two wires going to the motor. Let's switch the A with the B. Now the wires are like this: B, A, C Now it looks like it should totally screw things up. Clearly, B-A-C isn't in order, and it will just freeze? Nope. Look what happens when you start firing them off in that order: B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C What do you see in there? C-B-A -- its backwards. That's why the motor turns in the other direction. It doesn't matter what two wires you swap. Go back to the original placement of A-B-C, and let's now swap the B and the C -- to A, C, B A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B-A-C-B See...same thing... C-B-A over and over again. Want to reverse it again from this point. Swap any two wires. Let's do B and A. Now it's C-A-B. What happens when we fire it off in that order? C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B Yep...back to the original order of A-B-C. I hope that all makes sense. It was totally fascinating to me how it didn't matter what two wires you swapped to change directions. Now it's clear as a bell to me.

Living at higher altitudes and want better performance on your Phantom 3 Pro? I live in Denver and somebody stole my Blade Chroma out of my garage in the 30 seconds I went in the house! I just bought some Aeronaut carbon light 10 x 5 for them too! They had yet to make 9.5 inch blades for my DJI Phantom 3 Pro. I had them on the Chroma and noticed how stealth like the blades were as far as noise. You couldn't hear them until it was 30 feet away! Getting tired of my P3P blades sounding like a bad lawn mower I had an idea. On paper if done right it had 3 advantages. Aeronaut is great for higher altitudes with its broad width, razor thin CAD design not to mention it's pitch wasn't 4.5 like DJI'S but a 5 pitch. Problem is that Chroma's blades were 10 inches compared to my Phantoms 9 1/2 length. Hell, I had no Chroma and with a Dubro balancer and access to a band saw I had nothing to lose. The hardest part was making a guide to make a perfect 1/4 cut on each end. Did it and balancing was made easier using a band saw for my cuts. The results were unbelievable! It turned my Phantom into a silent Phantom 4 killer! Remember I'm at 5,600 MSL was averaging 58 mph and 8 meters a second climb rate! At my altitude the descent rate was 4 mps to be safe in this thing air or go nuts in a circling dive.....but why? I did have to at least try it once! I'm eating P-4's since Aeronaut has not made a snap on for it. But you'll never get the pitch because Aeronaut has now come out with Carbon lite 9.5 x 4.5 blades for any screw on Phantom blade. I'm just giving P-4 owners a poke in the ribs because it's such a sleek looking drone. Plus speed will bite us sooner or later! I wrote this for mainly owners living at high altitudes. I took it up to Echo Lake, Colorado and the Aeronaut blades were superb! Careful if you go so far out and you have to hit RTH, I didn't hear the damn thing until it was coming down 30 feet above me! Any questions feel free to drop a line. Just bought the Mavic Pro and heading out at sunrise for my first flight! Stay safe! Jeff Sallee Westminster, Colorado

"IDENTIFICATION!" check your prop [ in video you dont mention it ] it has designations on yours its the "P" for pusher! on APC MODEL PROPS they are called the "E" series! however im totally new never built anything trying to buy parts at this point and their is props called "E" on APC for electric im confused here! because APC has designations for "E" which also mean pusher! and its confusing if its an "ELECTRIC" or "PUSHER" but P definitely works and its very rare! "E" can be found.
