All in all I had a great time except when I lost my fishing rod. If anyone finds a new Penn Battle III around Barnegat let me know. Lol

@@michaelmatias5281 Is the boat traffic usually that busy? Someone said it was only that busy because of the Trump parade.

@@slingshotcrabbingit was the weekend, boat traffic is always heavier on the weekends. It all depends on the weather on the weekdays.
@slingshotcrabbing6 ай бұрын
@@michaelmatias5281 Yea. I talked about it with the dockmaster a bit. He told me the weekdays are a lot better. Unfortunately I work on weekdays. He also said the Trump parade added a lot more to that. That’s ok though. It added a lot to the experience seeing all the cool, decorated boats.

That sucks, well why do I see you upgrading to something you can anchor to the pier, using high tension cable to detier the boats from cross your line?!?! ;-)

@@mrbilky Next trip I’m going to another place I got from watching them. They are like crabbing masters. They almost always get a decent haul. They also are really good with hand lines. I tried it a long time ago and I just kept loosing the crabs. Thinking of trying hand lining again but need a new net, one that will fit in the challenger.

I was the guy to the right of you!! Those are the traps I thought I was buying. It was good to meet you and hope to see you again soon. Love it at the dock.

Nice to meet you too! That is a great place to spend the day. I'm sure I'll be back in the future. Maybe I'll even catch a concert while I'm there. I love those traps! I think I have 10 of them now. Link in the description if you're interested in picking some up.

Nice video! The last time we were there my line got caught in the propeller of a passing boat and almost took my rod. Thank God it snapped. That’s something to remember in that place, don’t throw the traps too far out and always keep an eye on passing boats. Good luck on your next adventure🦀😊!
@slingshotcrabbing6 ай бұрын
While I was there another person got their line caught too but it came off luckily. Then another guy got yelled at because he threw his trap and almost hit a passing boat. Lol😂

What a great place to go crabbing and nice and clean! Fishing doesn't look like it would be very good there though with all the boats. People do seem very friendly too! Good recipe for the crabs and more people should try it!
@slingshotcrabbing6 ай бұрын
Not the complete recipe but it will work. Spaghetti and crabs FTW! Yep, was checking a trap like I was in the video when a guy watching me yelled about my pole and we both tried to grab it. Last I saw it was shooting through the water like a torpedo. The guy that was watching me even asked a jet skier leaving for the parade to look out for the boat, but I knew that was a huge long shot. Still, very nice of the guy to help. Every one I met there was very friendly.

The boats are in the channel, you’re casting into the channel, where are boats supposed to go? 🤷♀️
@slingshotcrabbing6 ай бұрын
@@edwardjanowiak Yea, I don't blame the boats at all, like I posted in the video text. They are just following the buoys. I blame whoever decided to dredge the channel right along the pier.

What a nice place to go crabbing or for families to bring their kids! Looks like there were a few people enjoying the pier and they were really friendly. Not sure about fishing though with all the boats!

Slingshot..sorry u lost ur rod & reel , but , dont fret the new Penn battle 4 reels are coming soon they are upgrade from battle 3, in parallel to that u might get a battle 3 at a reduced price , id look at bass pro, tackledirect & fishermans source for this. I hope u have ur NJ saltwater registration with ya. As far as that spot i bet it get better after the middle of september all the vacationers will be less, good luck to ya
@slingshotcrabbing5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep any eye out for the Battle IV. The 3 was a pretty good rod so I trust the 4 will be even better. I did register and carry images of all my docs on my phone. Even got the non commercial pot permit on my fishing license but haven't had many chances to use the pot lately. I have a few places I plan to try again later in the year and did get the season pass for Barnegat.

I crab a bunch of creeks (from land). Was curious if those traps are good for "throwing?"
@slingshotcrabbing6 ай бұрын
@@brianarrabito4459 Yep. I can get them out pretty far. The trick is to keep a slight resistance drag to the rope as it slips through your fingers. It makes the trap go out nice and flat with the top facing towards you.

Exactly what I was thinking at the time but I don't like to assume anything. I'd rather loose 30 minutes of crabbing than piss off the dockmaster. That's her domain and she has the final say. If it makes any difference I purchased a season pass and now I can crab any time I want weather she is there or not. It was worth loosing 30 minutes of crabbing to me than loosing a lifetime of respect from the dockmaster I would need to deal with every time I visited that place, if she wasn't OK with me crabbing until she arrived. Either way no one was catching much. I blame the abnormally high boat traffic happening that day.
