Almost every tide pool and clam bed holds those crabs. In the video I got them in lawsons landing and pigeon point, and u can try bodega bay and half moon bay too.

I have done this from half moon bay to tomales bay, mainly. But rock crabs are everywhere all state i think

When you reach down, how do you not get pinched? If I can see the back legs, it's easy for me to pick up. But from the video it just looks like you're reaching in blind.

When u feel a crab under ur feet, don let go, keep stepping on it and then feel the crab carefully to identify the butt. U will get much better after couple of times.
