I live in the blue area on official and I personally find the best way to set up glow pets stats is zero capacity and high recharge rate! When the light goes out your screen flashes because it recharges so fast, so you might only have 200 charge but you have nearly 0 seconds of downtime! Always set to auto glow when fully charged and give it a pet to turn it on.

Recharge rate is key, I do the same but with a decent capacity, minimal down time. When we lived in blue we did the same, the most effective constant charge.

I think they knew there was going to be a strong argument for Featherlight being the best option, exclusively based on the fact that it flies, because of where they have them spawn. And this is coming from a guy who was 6* generations deep on official for a cyan/green shinehorn line I was completely in love with

I think the Featherlight is the best to have in ASA. Having a large range is extremely helpful and the good regeneration, even if it isnt the best, means I dont have to necessarily put any points into it. Only needing to increase capacity with your points is why I like the Featherlight the best. I need a long timer and big range when I go down to tame reapers, grab eggs, and roam the surface. Also it flies, so I usually dont lose mine when I die which is handy

You can set a preset for Clap in the gestures with either [ or ] on your keyboard (PC) Not sure of the console equivalent. Just open the gesture, mouse over clap or any gesture you want to preset and press [ or ]. Then whenever you push those buttons while wearing a lightpet it will turn it on or off, assuming you preset on the clap gesture. You can use both [ and ] for different gestures.

They are all adorkable but the shinehorns are the most precious of the light pets and I have an army of those precious smol goats in my base and their little bleats make my heart happy

@@Crabbytron I’m so attached to all my tames and going into the red zone I’m always fearful of the worst possibly things occurring and I lose my precious baby shinehorn who was the first one I bred and I love him to pieces. Even more than the otters. I save any and all shinehorns and tame them. I have a shinehorn problem haha. On a random note I found glowtails down near the rock drake trench and I’m new to Ark so I was surprised to see them there as I thought it would’ve been featherlights down there

@@Crabbytron they were around the elemental river of deaths waterfalls then around the rib bones area somewhat heading toward Rockwell’s terminal. I dunno if they are suppose to be there or not or if it was a weird glitch as the game updated shortly after my rock drake trench run but I did get a momma glow tail and her mutated baby

Thanks so much for this Crabby! I have been super curious which abilities each light pet has. I haven’t tamed a glow tail yet but I’m not sure I can pick which one is my fave anyway-they are all so fun in their own way. And with hats! I have been switching it up most play throughs.

I seem to be the only one besides one other who likes the Bulbdog. Everyone else is either team Shinehorns or Featherlights. I bred my Bulbdogs mainly for mutations in charge regen and a bit in range. Capacity is just extra. I prefer puggos over birds or goats.

I found that the bulbdog has the highest HP which is actually helpful when fighting reapers with the poison attacks . nothing worse than your light dying mid battle with multiple reapers

Honestly, it comes down to preference. The bulbdog has the highest charge, Shinehorns have the highest range, Glowtails have the highest charge regen, and Featherlights are the jack of all trades between them all. EDIT: ok, so at 11:32 she puts a chart that shows I'm wrong and the Shinehorn is the jack of all trades, and the Featherlight has the better radius.

Thank you for the video. Very nice explanation. My experience with wild featherlights is you can use a grapple hook to 'tow' them out of danger for taming. I don't know if this works on official servers

thx for the vid, me my fav has alws been the glowtail because i want the most usefull pet, what do you want with a light pet ? light. and with the glowtail i just tame a 150 for a good overall stats and then all lvl in regen, like that, unlimited light. when i take a buldog and put all in capacity it's oc very good because you have non stop ligh during some hours, but when you have a glowtail full regen ( and with enabled light at full charge ) it's just an unlimited time. as soon at the light capacity reach 0, it's reach the max in like 3-4 second max, so yeah it never stops ^^

It's all about regen. Capacity doesnt matter if it only takes 3 seconds to recharge a lightpet, even if the charge only lasts about 5 mins.

@@Crabbytron So i figured out it was just this one specific featherlight that just was defective.. he was the best one to Like level 190. His light just did not do a thing to stop nameless from spawning. I had to take a lower level one.
