I've gotten my claws into MH3 draft, and have found there to be plenty of sweet decks that aren't just Eldrazi - check out this Crab soup, for starters!

the emperor of bones interaction is something i had to learn the hard way one game - very silly that you have to hold full control to use it as a same turn corpse dance. Tip of advice: if you have full control on before the trigger to exile, it sometimes takes the full control off (at least visually when selecting). So i click full control again while on the window to ensure that u dont lose the opportunity after selecting the creature. Awesome draft! edit: that final game was insane

Eldrazi isn't even op. Writhing crysalis is but energy and artifact aggro are both strong too

@@leroyj62 Yes, energy and artifact aggro can be good if it's open and the good cards are opened enough. But Eldrazi is good when you are one of 3 people at the table forcing it. That's not the same. That's Ikoria cycling all again. Sure you can beat the cycling deck from a table where it was not open. But if you face the cycling deck from a table where it was open it was miles ahead of every other archetype. And even the forced cycling deck in the wrong seat was way too good still for a draft that should have been a train wreck

I lost a draft this week because, despite holding full control, Arena did not give me priority after the beginning of combat trigger from Emperor of Bones but before declaring attacks. I'm surprised to see a similar thing happen here!

The same thing happens with The One Ring. For whatever reason you can't respond to your own The One Ring upkeep trigger

Consuming corruption is pretty weak with only 6 swamps, I think the zealot might be a tiny bit better. Sweet games, love to see the crab going off. Definitely underrated that card on release.

It is the worst color, but not by that much and it is often very underdrafted.

I feel like Writhing would still have been a really solid card even if it just gave +1/+1 until end of turn. No clue how that card made it through playtesting as is. Sick deck, though.

Just kinda curious, if anyone could answer my question: LSV says that Chthonian Nightmare is busted, while Birthing Ritual is not playable (in the eyes of Limited play). In my eyes, they do similar things: drop a card on the field that turns a creature you already have into something else. Yeah, Ritual is harder to set up, but it does it for free every turn (you don't even have to). Nightmare, you have to recast to go again. How are these cards not closer to each other?

I'm no expert, but I think a big factor is that Ritual is much less reliable since it only looks at your top seven cards and those change every time. With Nightmare, you can set up loops where you get back the same thing again and again, like Accursed Marauder for example.

Jeskai energy and green/x/x eldrazi are the best decks in the format not to surprising he drafts them the most. There are a lot of cool synergies and combos in the format I have been enjoying it but if I open the early great energy or eldrazi I usually hard force them. The Crabfather is a sick card though!!!

Unfortunately I'm not sure Chtonian Nightmare is very playable, even with Spawns and Germs to sacrifice. The format is quite midrange-y, with lots of draw and stuff to do, and the energy limit in black makes it very awkward even when you get into the late game and have something laying around and something worth getting back. More often than not I've found I'd rather have another random two drop to impact the board early...

I think it’s best home is in blue black tbh bc you can draw so many cards that drawing it early typically wont matter since you always have stuff to play. Also, there are so many sacrificeable cards in that color pair, such as the recursive signpost common, accursed marauder, and retrofitted transmogrant. i could be wrong but i played it recently in a blue black deck and it was an exceptional value engine

also if you can get the good blue energy cards that can also draw cards like tune the narrative and bespoke batttlewagon, there’s a lot more energy left over for the nightmare

57:00 if you kill their creature before the bestow resolves, it fizzles and goes to the graveyard - they won't get a hydra in play

This is incorrect. They have a special rule for bestow, specifically for the feel-bads IMO. 702.102d As an Aura spell with bestow begins resolving, if its target is illegal, the effect making it an Aura spell ends. It continues resolving as a creature spell and will be put onto the battlefield under the control of the spell's controller. This is an exception to rule 608.3a.
